As the owner of No.9 Hamburgers, I wanted to extend a great big THANK YOU to everyone that stops by our burger stand on the way to the game. I also wanted to say THANK YOU for waiting in line patiently. We love cooking for you guys!
fair point that
i hope brian is getting some free burgers...
if I knew what he looked like.
You must have missed the photospread the Michigan Daily ran last year:
I don't think you would forget that if you had seen it. No, I don't have any way to make you un-click that link after you've decided to go there.
Now I can put a name with a face. I will be on the lookout for him.
that i'm not the only one with long hair and a beard. Rock on Brian!
Yeah, but he never lists a full name, and there's no listed way to contact him.
and all this time I thought Brian was "Naked Guy®".
In front of Elbel field. Dont get me wrong...I am not here to push a product, just to say thank you to everyone that comes thru on game day.
So I'll be sure to stop by your stand this week.
i hope to be there on saturday
Thanks. I will stop by your stand before the UM/PSU game in a few weeks.
You darn well SHOULD be here to advertise! Word of mouth advertising is the BEST type. To do it personally is the best market exposure you can get.
Nobody on EARTH is going to begrudge you for being a Michigan fan and selling burgers at Michigan games. Heck, we, the hungry, beer soaked masses should be thanking you, oh glorious cooked beef man.
I am always amazed that at 8:00 in the morning...my peeps in front of the BOX house on State are already getting their drink on...and to think, this is going on all around campus...gotta love it.
I stop there every time I go to a game. You guys have some of the best pregame food around.
Let us know if there is something that can be improved. Without you guys, there is NO business!
And $10 says you'd have never gone there if I hadn't been raving about them all the time, lol.
It's the best burger I've ever had, legit. They've got the perfect balance of salty, greasey goodness, cooked on a flat top, giving the burgers an unexpected char. Make sure to step it up to the double, and get all the toppings (cheese, pickels, and sauted onions). They're there fore a reason: the cook knows what he's doing.
The line gets hectic just prior to kick off, so go early. Hey No. 9 Guy, you should after the game too. I'd buy twice.
So...The plan is to be there till after the Win!
have the best damn burgers I've ever had. I (for some unknown reason) have yet to snag one en route to the game. I'll have to fix that saturday...
At some point we want to introduce thick cut bacon for the burgers. At this moment we can’t. We have a lot of customers that don’t eat pork for various reasons. We are still trying to figure that one out.
bacon makes everything better, even ice cream. Seriously:
Pretty darn popular here in SF....
I'm coming in for the DSU game and one of your burgers sounds like my pre-game meal.
my mouth just orgasmed after looking at that. Damn.
One burger at a time.
Great, now I am hungry. Why can't you just cook the bacon on a separate heat source? I haven't seen your set-up so I am guessing it's not that simple.
Turkey Bacon? I personally have never had it, but hey it can't be all that bad.
Is good on garden burgers. Not much else.
I have yet to find anything that rivals thick cut Virginia bacon.
Turkey makes me angry.
These days, they've got Turkey Bacon, Turkey Peperoni, Turkey burgers, Turkey everything! It's like, 'Hey man! Just be yourself! I like you for who you are!'
Especially around Thanksgiving. At least its better than Tofurkey IMO.
If you've never even had it then why would you suggest it?...
that some of his customers don't eat pork, for various reasons.
I noticed their stand for the first time this past weekend and it smelled delicious. I'll probably have to try a burger this weekend.
I admit that they smell spectacular as we walk past your stand, but I hope that I never stop at your stand. Allow me to explain:
We have a very elaborate, pre-established routine we use to get to the game. From the structure we park in (by Scorekeepers), to the route we walk (through the alley with the giant ants), to the urinals we use in the Michigan union, to the street signs we "accidentally" walk into, to where we buy our bottled water before the game, etc.
Things only get added/deleted to the routine after a loss (or sometimes if an accidental deviation occurs before a big game). For example, before the Manningham PSU game, one person in our group while not paying attention to where he was walking (this may have had something to do with the coeds in the area) accidentally walked squarely into a street sign. Since then, before a big game he has to walk into that same sign. If he forgets, he gets shoved into it. Before this year's Notre Dame game, my head got slammed in the rear hatch of the car. I reached in to put the sunblock back in the car, another person decided (without looking -- we are not a very observant group) that it was time to shut the hatch. We are in negotiations as to whether this gets added to the routine.
At this point the routine is working well and we would not want to jinx anything. Don't take this the wrong way, but hopefully we never get to stop at your stand.
Hey, by all means...do your thing. I would not want you to add..."get weekly 3rd degree burn from falling face first onto the grill at No.9" That could be bad for business...on another note, hope you have great health insurance...
You need a helmet and pads.
How many people prefer Swiss over American on their burgers. If neither...what kida cheese?
I prefer the good old American standby (cheese that is) on my burgers. Perhaps cheddar on burgers with bacon (as you mentioned above the possibility of bacon).
P.S. The onions you guys cook up make the burgers what they are. I was there before when you ran out, and while the burger was still damn good, it wasn't quite the same.
I will try not to run out of onions...the thing is...the onions are supposed to be for the burgers...but they get order with everything...
It's because they're so awesome. I don't blame you, there's no way you can realistically know how many you'll need. I rather just wanted to highlight how awesome I thought they were. :)
My instict is American, but I've never been disappointed with Swiss.
but Pepperjack rules all.
I'll second pepperjack.
Individual wrapped cheeses contain more moisture and more preservatives than the cheese I use. With our cooking methods, it does not hold up well to a lot of heat. I'm not saying it doesn’t taste good, but when I see that package, two words come to mind…logistical nightmare.
I had my first classic 9 before the Ohio State game in 2007. Amazing! If it wasn't the Ohio State game, and for that fact that I wanted to get to College Gameday, I would have went back through the line and got seconds, or thirds.
But what really sold me on No. 9 Hamburgers was a visit before a game early in the 2008 season. I told my girlfriend that this was the best burger I've ever had (she wasn't convinced) and we went through the line and ordered 2 classic 9's. Because we had a long wait (all of 4 minutes) you added an extra patty to each of our burgers. Now that's true customer service!
Now every time we go to a game, my girlfriend begs for us to stop and pick up a classic 9. She hasn't figured out that she doesn't really have to ask.
It gets really busy and a lot of the times I don’t have time to talk, but I appreciate all that come thru. I am grateful to have such great customers.
