I assume this comes from that post where we were all responding to the posts that listed "posted from iPhone" in the post-malware meltdown?  That was one of my favorite threads.  Anyone remember the title of it?  I think it was an open thread for a bowl game, I think?

This is pretty awesome.  I started wondering who else could do something like this, then I remembered Steve Heinze wearing #57 for the Blue Jackets.

Anyone else who could pull this off? Perhaps someone with the last name of Nintendo wearing #64?

People with appropriate last names should make it their duty to put them to good use. Commodore should definitely wear #64, anyone with the last name "Love" should become a doctor of some kind and, god willing, if anyone ever plays sports with the last name "Slaughterhouse" they MUST take #5. I'm sure there are others, I just can't think of them right meow.

EDIT: If your last name is any form of the word "Way" you should take #3.

... i honestly dont want this to happen, at least full time.  take a look at A2Y's take on this.  i agree with it.  it'll turn the guy into a joke.  it'll turn our franchise into a joke.

i love the idea that money is being raised for charity.  but if people are going to donate money for something like this, they should give that money away regardless of what commodore decides to do.  and the wings franchise would probably double any pledges to date that would be "lost" if commodore doesnt go for the 64.

i suppose the ideal compromise would be for commodore to wear 64 for preseason or something, but switch to something less circus-y for the rest of the year.  that way people can get their kicks in for a little bit and enjoy it, the money would go to a noble cause, but us wings fans wont have to deal with a sideshow all season long.

People will chuckle about it or think it's kind of cool (or both) and then cease to care when the season starts. It will not affect anybody's perception of the Red Wings as a franchise, much less turn it into a joke.

The interesting thing is that the Commodore 64 probably predates him by a couple years.  I seem to remember them starting the decline in the late 80's only to be gone a couple years later....But damn, I do miss my Commodore 64.
