No, it is not legal.
and... i like them? I think I like them.
No, it is not legal.
Who cares? I am just thankful I can watch the game in FL
it's only illegal if you are the person streaming/uploading the content. downloading and watching is just fine, although frowned upon
You sure about that?
I thought watching was illegal too. It's not like it'd be practical for them to try and track down everyone watching and prosecute, but, I thought it was technically illegal.
I am almost positive that it is illegal to dl any copyrighted material ie. movies, cds, video games.
I've worked in IT for years and received many DMCA complaints and it only catches people for uploading. downloading anything is completely legal as long as you don't seed (I.e bit torrent) while you are downloading.
since the majority of people use piratebay any places like that to get their goods.
Not that I would EVER do that!! ;-)
Oh crap, my mom just walked in the room asking if this is legal.
LOL, just tell her it's no big deal and everything is illegal.
Seriously. The US legal code is like tens of thousands of pages. Technically, everyone is a criminal somehow. Traffic laws, ticky-tack things, etc. There are laws that it's illegal to buy certain kinds of fish that are sold in grocery stores. (Can't remember what kind, but I read this recently.)
As Ayn Rand said in Atlas Shrugged, governments exist to make criminals out of all their citizens via over-legislating. It's part of how they consolidate power.
Its the same way where I work, if management came in and nitpicked they could easily fire me. But since I do my job well, I can cut corners. But piss off the wrong guy, and they will find a reason to can me.
Exactly. Good analogy.
Yeah, because so many great thoughts begin with "As Ayn Rand said..."
My dog could come up with a better philosophy than objectivism. Keep that silly crap out of the forums.
wasn't worried about le...
Nah. Too easy.
Are you . . . are you serious? You can't be serious, right? RIght? No, you're not serious. You can't be. You can't be serious.
does it matter?
But everyone does it :D
an american citizen living abroad who wishes to view a free broadcast of a publicly funded school's sports competition. ESPN or BTN wants to charge me for the fact that I'm living far away. FUCK THEM.
FUCK THEM translates to "No, it's not legal. But most of us disagree with this aspect of intellectual property laws when it conflicts with our interests and contravene it, choosing a path of civil disobedience instead. Sometimes, you can even get civil disobedience in HD, but not usually for Big Ten Network games."
I kind of like the way you put it better, though. Fuck them.
it would be different if you were actually downloading it, but your not. The only way I see it being illegal is if you are streaming ppv fights like UFC next saturday. If it was illegal they probably would've been shut down already.
