Watching the game in Monterrey, Mexico
OK, I looked at the list of UM friendly bars and could not find one for Monterrey, Mexico. I could not even find an alumni association there to reach out to. Anyone have any idea of a bar that will show the game this weekend there?
If not, do you know if the game will be available via streaming?

They're located right next to the Holiday Inn Express and the Crowne Plaza by the airport.
The bartenders will search channels for you.
And Indio is a far better choice on tap!!!
Hoist some shots of Tres Generaciones after the win!

Somewhere where you won't get caught in the crossfire of battling drug cartels.

This...is sadly true and getting worse with each passing year.

Tend to steer clear of 'Murricans, and those hotels are very business person oriented.
Also, President Calderon put Federales in Monterrey in huge numbers, and they're using the next hotel over as barracks. No place safer in MX, IMHE.

Thanks everyone... yeah, sad to see the crime wave there. It has not hit San Pedro as bad as the rest of the city, but still, this was a city that 4 years ago almost had no crime.
I am sadly from a place that makes Monterrey look like Disney World (Caracas, Venezuela), so I am used to the crime and being aware of my surroundings. At least outside of northern Mexico this is not as much of an issue, it is in fact much safer than Colombia, Brazil, and a ton of other Latam countries.
So sounds like the best options are ESPN3 (will they let me stream abroad?) or that hotel near the airport.

i've got a similar issue. i'm heading out to joshua tree this weekend for camping and climbing, so i'm going to have to dip into town for the game, but it's not exactly a bustling metropolis outside the park. i plan on sitting in a coffee shop with espn3 pulled up on my laptop for 3.5 hours. sounds horrible, but i don't know what else to do. unless any mgoboarders are more familiar wth the joshua tree area and can help me out with a suggestion...

Sucks. Available no where in the continental U.S., Mexico and Canada.

There's been two games this year that have been on Mexican sports channels, Northwestern and Michigan State. Since ESPN 3 doesn't work outside the US I usually look for a live feed.
Also check Caliente Casino, they have several casinos in each city in Mexico and they have Satellite TV and most games there at their sports book, just called "book" in Spanish. But call the casino before you go. Fox Sports is showing Iowa State - OK this weekend instead of the Michigan game so you might be stuck with a shaky internet feed.

Monterrey is not that bad, it has seen more crime and the casino incident was horrible, but it is not like Juarez or Tampico... But yes, you should always be careful in latam no matter where you go (except Chile I guess), but it is fine, just don't be dumb...
Mexico City actually has a lower crime rate than many US cities...

Funny you mention Chile, my daughter visited Santiago after college graduation about 5 months ago...biggest complaint was the instant coffee (Nescafe) everywhere. The only good coffee she could get was lattes, frou-frou coffee/liquer drinks, etc.
Agree with you on the assessment of Monterrey, not that bad. Just be smart about where you go, when you go, etc.

I remember working for Union Carbide and going to Monterrey in the mind 1980s, was quite a beautiful town back them. Steel producing city if I'm correct.
