Was There a Players-Only Team Meeting on Sunday?

Submitted by saveferris on

After the Minnesota game on Saturday, I remember reading or hearing something about the team calling a players-only meeting for Sunday.  Does anyone know if that actually wound up happening or did that get pushed aside by the Concussion-Gate shitstorm?  Looking for a sign that there may be some semblance of leadership left on this team.

There was, and Dave Brandon requested to sit in on it since there was no film session that day.  It explains why Hoke and DB didn't speak before Monday.

This is all speculation.

Frank Clark was asked about this during yesterday's presser and said "not really" then went on to talk about how everyone knows what they need to do. Execute, make tackles, etc.

There was a thread which appeared perhaps a couple hours after the game from someone who gave us a laundry list of things - this meeting included - which turned out to not happen (or at least not as they were described in that thread), at least most of the items they mentioned didn't to the best of my knowledge. It was the same person who posted some stuff about the QB situation last week, I believe. That might be where this came from.

Yeah, this "player's-only" meeting thing was kinda started purely on some rumors I read here and on Reddit.  Clark not knowing what to say probably was just because he didn't expect to be asked; I'm sure the older players did talk to the team but I doubt it was much of a meeting.  Say what you will about the outside world, but it does seem like this team is trying its best to focus on each game and keep the distractions outside.

Didn't the same guy start the "Peppers wasn't really injured, he was being punished" rumor?

From what I remember, a few posters called him out on the 5 or 6 of the 8-9 rumors he said were true via his "inside information" and then announced he wasn't going to be sharing his inside info with mgoblog anymore.  I may be a skeptic, but his whole vibe came off as Ace Williams-ish.

I qualified it (a lot, short of verifying really - I put a big "if" in my initial statement) with that given the person he claims to know, he would probably only have access to certain information (a very narrow scope, but some of it game-related) - that thread Saturday night would have been way beyond the scope of anything he could have credibly known given his described relationship to the person he mentioned, and as a few of the items have been shot down by people even closer to the players now, we'll probably not take that as sourcing anymore. I was willing to give him the benefit of a doubt, but that time has passed now.

if what they said in the e-mail I received is correct, then they would be in a position to hear certain things - not comprehensive information perhaps, but some information. I will put it that way

(my emphasis)

People were believing some guy who just made an account 3 days prior, WMUkirk. It was stupid. I'm quite sure it was the same guy that was here after ND with a different username saying he played football and criticizing CB coaching and Frank Clark
