Warren Throws a Punch?

Submitted by kevink27 on

Sitting at the game saturday I could not help but notice what appeared to be a punch from Michigan's own Donovan Warren. What I saw occured in the first quarter, on EMU's 4th and 1 rush play. Warren picked up the running back, slammed him down to the turf and then as Warren was getting up it looked like he definitley threw a punch right at EMU's running back's face. No flag was thrown, no shoving matches broke out, and I seemed to be the only person around me that noticed it! I found this oddly similar to last week's affair with Jonas Mouton. It looks every bit like a punch, but yet the reactions and all else that follows indicate that nothing violent occured at all! I was awaiting word on this sometime today and to be honest was expecting a Donovan Warren suspension for the upcoming game against Indiana. I guess we will see, the whole Mouton suspension was issued later so who knows what will happen with this. I kept my eyes peeled the rest of the game trying to find other forms of misconduct from the Michigan defensive backs but the rest of the game appeared to be clear of punches. There were some small shoving matches and a couple times where EMU players were grabbing facemasks and pulling on them after they made a takcle, but that comes with almost any football game. I have to believe waht I saw was a punch, but I was hoping that someone else noticed it! Let me know if you did!

is trollish. Why else would you post this, why else would you indicate excitement with this by using exclamation points hoping others saw this, why would you spend the whole game looking for Michigan indiscretions. You're trying to make shit up. Shut up, go away, and I hope this is deleted.

This guy is a troll, I'm thinking there's no doubt. He's probably sitting in his mom's basement in Chicago, still fuming about imagined conspiracies against his Domers last week by the B10 refs and wanting to stir up more hatred against RR. There's no hatred against RR by UM fans, just angst from UM foes because they see UM's speed and are fearful of the future.

This is definitely trollish. Why would any Michigan fan ever be excited by something like this? Please delete this, and, like BlockM said, if you insist on posting it then please post it on the MGoboard. This is a terrible post, though. Clearly you have no intention of supporting the Wolverines. I smell troll.

The EMU player pushed Warren's right arm in the air when they were on the ground. It came back down but nowhere near his head. Might want to get your facts straight before you post something like this.

Why don't you give that DBag opinion writer (as compared to reporter) from Freep a call while you are at it. and ask his opinion on the subject. Don't get the point of your post except to hurt us. Go Blue!

8:20 left in 1st quarter. I just watched this play in slow motion, and Warren DOES NOT throw anything resembling a punch at EMU RB Priest. He pulls his right arm up quickly as he gets to his feet. His arm coming back toward himself is not a punch. EDIT: sorry, Sean from MSC beat me to it.

Warren seems to be a very composed player, I can't see him doing this. I also cannot see anybody on the team doing something stupid like that after what happened to Mouton. Im sure RR game them a talk about composure on the field.

Although I'm new on this blog, I've had a lot of experience with the Collstatmans, scooters, [trolls] of the world, I agree with the above posters. Just what we need, more controversy. Troll.

I thought this was an intentional hit to the helmet when I first saw it, too. I haven't been able to find a clip of the play to re-examine it though.

Oh, sorry, I forgot that seniority determines the validity of my point. Also, let me apologize for sharing my thoughts on a message board, this is clearly not the place for it. What was I thinking? The whole "nerd sitting in his mom's basement watching star trek" thing is just tired and painful. It needs to go away. It is used by old hacks who hate that people want to use numbers to learn about baseball. Whether or not you meant it this way, this is the meaning it has taken on.

ha thanks for all the troll comments, however I am no such thing, quite the die hard Michigan fan and have been going to games with my Dad's season tickets since I was 6. And also I am not posting from my mother or grandmother's basement, thanks for the concern though. I wasn't looking for problems with Michigan all game, but this was early in the game and from my seats, that were pretty amazing, it looked pretty blatent. I apologize for jumping the gun on the accusation, but that is my only fault.
