Assuming he can stick with Indy, but it's 100% horrible in comparison to what his expectations must have been when he declared. If he'd known he was slotted for the fifth round on the eve of the draft, he probably would have stayed.

today which guy would you rather have back for one last year Warren or Manny? Seeing as they are both projected pretty low in their respective drafts I would like them both back.
Would definitely rather have DWarr back, if only because I care infinitely more about the football team than the basketball team. But having Manny back would be wonderful as well.
JB's system wasn't good for Manny and Manny wasn't good for JB's system.

As much as I respect Manny's game and JB's coaching style I haven't heard the Manny situation explained so simply and so well. Plus one, sir.
Wish DW would've waited on getting a draft prediction from the advisory board before making his mind and bolting...
While I wish DW would have stayed - we would have actually had a really strong secondary is he had - I think that he is VERY underrated. Yes, he may not grade out well on the combines, as he is neither blazing fast, 6'2" or all that strong looking, but this guy has a ton of potential. He is a ball hawk, has shown great instincts and when paired with someone in the backfield other than _______ (insert just about any of the players that made up the "weak" part of our secondary these past two years), I think that he will be an above average CB. It is not fair to look at this past season as an example of his play, as he was (1) paired with nobody, (2) constantly switching positions between CB and S, and (3) on his third straight DC in three years.
Maybe I am being a homer, but I could see a team taking a shot on him in the 3rd or 4th round.

How much safety did Warren play during his career?
I know Warren said he thought he would get picked by the end of the 2nd round, but could he really believe that? Even people on here knew he had no chance to go in the 1st-2nd round. Most people would have said 3rd-5th rounds. I just don't see how he could think he really had a chance at going that high, unless he thought he'd blow up at the combines.
If Dorsey doesn't make it, and Cullen isn't ready... I think the story of our 2010 season plays out one of two ways:
Worst Case - "I wish Warren would have stayed"
Best Case - "I love Denard"
I think you were asking the other day about the latest on Dorsey (sorry, don't remember the thread) and whether or not he'll qualify. Did you get any responses?
Either way, there is another scenario: "Goddamn, T-Wolf is awesome."

If my knowledge is correct (no not THAT knowledge), then it was a grade issue and not a test score issue. I assume we'll know something in early June.
5th round you're not looking for an immediate starter but someone you can develop, add to special teams, or move to another position (safety).
I don't see him adding much to any special teams unit. He's not a returner, and he's probably not strong/tough enough to be a gunner.

Morgan Trent is still in the NFL playing safety so I think Donovan will definitely make a roster. If Donovan is still around in the fifth I would be cool with the Steelers drafting him. Trent and Tyrone Carter played safety at times last year and they both suck.

Why does he continue to fall?? It seems that 40 time is being a bit more of a turnoff that I thought it would be. Lions can trade 3 of their 7th round picks to move up and get him. Gotta save the last pick for ZOLTAN!

Warren is falling at this stage because the NFL teams only started evaluating him in depth the last few months and he is not grading out particularly well. He was a good player but his career at Michigan won't blow anyone away, and his speed and athleticism are not exceptional. I wish he had stayed another year.
Since he likely will not be a strong special teams player he may struggle to stick on a roster if he is drafted that low.
Hopefully he will rise to the occasion and make it.

Best of luck to Warren, but it doesn't sound like he will be drafted where he thought he would. That said, though, I'm not sure sticking around would have helped much. He wasn't going to get much bigger or faster in a year, and another bad year might completely submarine his draft prospects. Maybe we just overrated him a bit because he played for UM.

he would not have gotten much bigger or faster. But, he would have gotten another year of film study, practice, and possibly show NFL scouts that he can anchor an improved Michigan Defense.
He's talented. But, he never seemed to possess that leadership quality to demand others around him be better.
One of the best things about Woodson was that he kept everybody accountable around him. So guys like Ray and Hendricks and Weathers were pushed to play better than there talent level.
I don't like that Warren is gone but I'm not really upset either. It seems like T Wolf might possess some of that leadershipto demand of his teammates. And if Warren was being a me first attitude guy (it sometimes seemed that way this year) that his leaving early knowing he doesn't have a chance for 1 st round suggests; the team will be better as a unit who play together. And most importantly as they practice together to make each other better.
I just hope he gets drafted.
With a bell-curve of talent, at any given projected round, there are a lot more guys of similar or "one or two round lower comparables" than there are of the player (one, obviously) that can move up.
Kinda like the 5th ranked pre-season team will, on average, finish, say 10th, because there is more room to go down than up.

every year we need not only talent on the corners, but also leadership. TWolf will definitely fill the void left by Warren and perhaps even more.
Either way, it's hard not to let your mind roam and wonder how different the forecast would be if #6 was returning.
Here's hoping the newcomers will make it easy to forget.
