Wait a few minutes....another Gator will be suspended

Submitted by James Burrill Angell on
No joke.....Florida RB Jordan Scarlett cited for marijuana possession, suspended for Citrus Bowl. Can't make this up. Third Gator suspended this afternoon/evening. Source is Thomas Goldkamp (24/7 reporter) Twitter account.

A function, I'm thinking, of having the game played too close to home. Lots of ways you can get into trouble close to home with friends and family still having access to you, I suppose.

Wow, they really do not have their heads in this bowl game.  They're just going through the motions (those who are left at least).

I guess an Orlando bowl game is pretty anti-climatic when you are a Gainesville FL team.

Still, after the year they had last year, I would have thought they would be more into playing in a New Years Day bowl, even it it's just one down the street.

Oh well, good for us.  When you get to these non-New Years 6 bowl games, the team that wants to be there the most is usually the team that wins.

Respectfully disagree

The B1G team is looking to end the season on a winning record. Indiana was in position to win, but PDI. (And they entered the game at .500).

Minnesota may be playing for Jerry and all the fired assistants.

Weren't two of them suspended for grades? That's a semester-long issue, not them tanking because of which bowl game they've got. And the weed-smoking RB? I'd bet that's something he'd been doing long before this game was announced. At least he got to participate in some kind of bowl, amirite? All 100+ Florida players could be apathetic about this bowl game, but these few suspensions don't seem to me to be definitive proof of that.

We make lots of jokes about other programs suffering like this, and sure coaches and culture has some influence over the number I'm sure, but it must be damn near impossible to keep ANY group of 100 or so 18-22 year old kids out of trouble no matter when and where the game is played. I would not want that job...

Especially stupid shit like this. At this point in American culture, even old farts who never touched it had a ton of friends in school/life who partook. They all turned out fine (with a few exceptions). I know it's still a law, but the cops should let this slide. I mean who gets caught for this.

SARAH: [peering over Jim's shoulder at eight milkmaids in the kitchen] Dammit, Jim they sell milk at the store! We don't need to run a dairy farm. And aren't you coaching a bowl today?

JIM: I trained the geese to coach in my place, I'm really focused on this gift-giving season.

Editor's note: The geese held Florida to 112 offensive yards in a 17-10 victory.

They have an elite true freshman WR who averages >20 a catch.  If anyone could get him in trouble we might hold them to sub 100 yds.  Volunteers? (not the TN kind)

Good call.

Take one for the team Kate....

But before you do that let's huddle at my house for a 24 hour info session about what your role is and we can play out all potential scenarios.  I'll bring Spike (in the 23rd and a half hour)
