W Soccer beats Ohio State, 3-1 in unofficial 2015-16 opener

In the unofficial opener to the 2015-16 Michigan Athletic season, Michigan Women's Soccer faced a B1G opponent for the first time ever.

Somehow, in yet another sport, Michigan and Ohio State will not meet in the regular season.

So, unless they meet in the B1G Tournament, this exhibition game is the only meeting between these rivals in 2015.

Michigan took a 2-0 lead into half by goals from Taylor Timko ('19) and freshman Abby Kastroll ('34). Kastroll entered Michigan as a 3 star recruit by TopDrawer Soccer.

Michigan tacked on another insurance goal at '52 by senior Lulu Haidar. They let one in on a sloppy breakaway with about 4 minutes left to play to make it a 3-1 Michigan victory.

The interesting thing is who assisted on two of three Michigan goals: Christina Murillo.

Murillo is a 5th year senior that was in Canada this summer.....playing for the Mexican National Team on soccer's grandest stage at the World Cup. She took last season off to train with the Mexican WNT.

This year should be a really fun year. Michigan has the guns to win this conference and go on an NCAA Tournament run.

This is the Michigan Women's lone exhibition game of 2015. They open their season and officially open the 2015-16 Michigan Athletic season next Friday against Eastern Michigan at U-M Soccer Stadium at 7:30pm.
