Not to be a jerk or anything...but why would I vote for one kid over the next when I know next to nothing about Michigan HS football at this point in life.

 

Not that Mr. Marshall isn't a good candidate.

That's his point, it's ridiculous to vote-gather for an award for high school kids based solely on the fact that one is a Michigan commit and others aren't.  These are a bunch of kids playing high school sports, the most deserving should win, not to use this as some petty proxy war against rivals. 

I'm sure this is how Jeff Daniels won an emmy for the Newsroom, you see what a mockery it makes of the award.

Not disagreeing with your overall point (although the newsroom is my favorite show these days) but statewide high school sports awards have always been hugely political, because theres no way the voters could possibly have seen all the players, or even all the finalists. It's a hype machine.
