Illinois may have it's struggles but they are no cupcake. If this team (knocking on wood) somehow pulls off three wins at the end of the year (ILL NEB OSU) he'll have plenty of publicity.

If we're capable of beating those three teams then we're going to the BCS, which is more than enough to get Denard in NYC. Whether he can win it probably depends on his passing; if he's stuck at 48% or whatever he's at now, I doubt he can win it.

Not a chance. Recent history shows the Heisman very rarely goes to a player NOT in the BCS title game. You have to be a statistical freak (Tebow in '07) to get voters to buck that trend.
Forget about the Heisman, dude. It's stupid.

he stands a chance of winning the Heisman right now. He is not playing well. He is running well, that we knew, but he is really not playing his position at a high level. His big rushing numbers are resulting from an inability to do the things that would result in less runs and less yards.
I did not expect this team to be 4-0 right now, I am happy that they are. And I too am dazzled by Denard and all of his smiling goodness. But Denard's lack of development at this point in the year is the glaring problem right now. Are you confident heading into Big Ten play with the offense that was on the field this Saturday? I see busted plays, a failure to execute the most basic of passes, be it from the Shotgun or from the I, and the lack of a basic offensive structure. I see wide receivers losing interest, rapidly.
These "Impact Performance of the Week" nominations are misguided at this point, as is any talk of a Heisman trophy.

would require us to win the big 10 for denard to get seriously into the heisman talk, and I think he will need to get some kind oa rudimentary passing game gonig as well. but on pure rushing stats he is leading the nation right now in a per game basis.

Where are you mgoscripters?

vs just read his stat sheet. He'll get enough big plays to fill a highlight reel again this year - just not sure how many voters pay close enough attention to the games themselves.
I'd rather him win it his Senior year after he gets his throwing game put together a little better.

He needs a signature game where he just thoroughly dominates a good team. He probably won't have the chance for that until November, but I think his passing game will improve by then. Who knows and who cares?

He's one of 4 impact players of the week, and yet the board is fretting his incompletions.
Yes it will get tougher, and he hasn't looked good on many of his passes. He's confused with the new offense, and still not hitting the deep ball.
But make no mistake, if he were hitting those routes, we'd be winning 65-7 instead of 28-7. And it's possible they get it working before season's end.

He had plenty of completions to SDSU.

My father-n-law was at the Illinois game over the weekend. He knows I love Michigan (which took him a while to get over), so he got me this shirt.....
On the front it says- Tre$$el's Tattoo & Pawn, Turning a blind eye since 2001.
I can't wait to wear it when I got back to Cbus to visit my family!!!

Saw the same exact shirt in blue outside the stadium against Notre Dame. Just sayin' if you want a blue one or something...

Griffin Jones and Wilson are just above Denard in the rankings and could easily be passed by more UM votes. The others above Denard (luck, lattimore and a few others) are too far ahead; so I would put Denard at the top followed by Luck Lattimore at the top and put Griffin Jones and Wilson at the bottom. That should maximize Denard's votes, while minimizing the 3 others directly above him, who are within striking range.
