Volleyball rallies from down 2-0 to beat MSU

Unbelievable. An unbelievable comeback took place tonight in Ann Arbor.

Had the weather not changed the time of the Michigan Football game, the Michigan-MSU Volleyball match at Cliff Keen Arena probably wouldn't have been a complete sellout, jammed house.

It was the perfect storm in terms of making it all fall into place for the right environment.

#23 Michigan faced MSU on Wednesday night in East Lansing, but was swept 3-0 in a match where nothing seemed to go the Wolverines way and where they could never quite grasp the wheel for more than a point or two.

It seemed like it was going that way again tonight, as MSU took a 2-0 lead making it another rough hill to climb for Michigan. But this time, Michigan was at home in front of a packed house that was Maize and Blue.

Michigan took set 3 which was somewhat tight down the stretch to shorten the deficit to 2-1. Then, Michigan pulverized MSU and fed off the Cliff Keen crowd to take set 4, 25-13 to force a decisive set 5.

In the final set, with Michigan down 10-8, Abby Cole's block and kill tied it up at 10-10 and then Adeja Lambert took over from there. Two straight Lambert blocks, an MSU error and two Lambert kills sealed the comeback victory for Michigan, 15-11.

Michigan is now 12-3 on the season and 2-2 in the B1G.

Michigan is undeafeated this season when in a set 5 situation, and this was their first victory when coming back from a 2-0 match deficit since 2013 in a victory over Ohio State.

On 10/3/2001, which was exaclty 14 years ago tonight, Michigan rallied from down 2-0 against MSU to beat them 3-2 at Cliff Keen Arena.

14 years later on the same date, Michigan rallies from down 2-0 to beat MSU.

Great description!  Was an AMAZING game, I also thought we would be done in 3 based on how they surgically took care of us in the first 2 sets/games, and got nervous in the 5th.

Do you, or anyone else, know why TiMo was not playing libero and IIRC only got in during the 5th?

What a great way to end the day!  Go Blue!
