Bielfeldt is probably behind McGary at the 4. Let him play and let Donnal sit a year. The only other concern for playing time for Bielfeldt is probably sliding GR3 or Irvin to the 4 when McGary sits. Considering the reasoning behind moving McGary to the 4 and GR3 to the 3, it would make more sense for Bielfeldt to get some playing time behind McGary.

The guy who hit about 5 threes in a row to help spark our tourney run?  The guy who has yet to go through summer practce?  For a guy who has yet to set foot on campus?  Sounds like a bankrupt Donald Trump approach to coaching to me.  Strange insight.

We can play Irvin at the 2 and Stauskas at 3 when GR3 slides to the 4 and we go small for short periods of the game. Or when GR3 is on the bench. However, for the 20+ minutes that GR3 is on the court and playing the 3, per Beilein's own comments, then yes Stauskas/Irvin will both be playing the same position at SG. Not sure why this was upvoted since it is incorrect, at least for the majority of the 2013-2014 season.

I assume that you are saying that Irvin is a 3, which is what Stauskas played this past season. Even if Stauskas moves to the 2, if Irvin and GR3 both show to be better players than Stauskas, you can bet that one of them will be taking time away from him to get the best players on the floor. If you're saying that Stauskas is still a 3 and Irvin is a 2, you still have Stauskas getting benched for GR3, although it's effectively because Irvin has stolen his minutes.

You deserve to be benched for your inability to capitalize a sentence.

I don't know what isn't to like about stauskus.  The kid has game, maybe not Grade A (as in awesome) 1st round of NBA draft game but definitely the ability to contribute on a high level college program.

I am a believer of the fact that Stauskus will work on his defense and suprise people next year... and if Irvin is so good that he keeps Stauskus from having many minutes than Irvin will have earned them, which is good for the team.

"... maybe not Grade A (as in awesome) 1st round of NBA draft game ..."

I think comparing him to J. J. Redick is interesting. Stauskas has at least a couple of inches on him and just as much range. Redick has played several years in the NBA. What does he have that Stauskas lacks?

Technically he's not transferring.  Michigan decided not to renew his scholarship for a 5th year.  He has a Michigan degree, was honored on Senior day, and his Michigan career is over.  He's just taking advantage of his additional year of eligibility.  Totally different than a Smotrycz or Brundidge transfer.

It may not just be about him seeing more playing time next year. With a solid year at Miami, McLimans can set himself up for a shot at a pro stint overseas. His game seems well-suited to the European style of play.

I was responding mostly to the implication that McLimans got the proverbial "firm handshake" regarding his 5th year.

It seems fairly obvious that Beilein would find a spot for him if he really wanted to stay.

Well we have two open spots so he could add one player and still have room for McLimans. We need practice players too. This is McLimans looking for playing time.

We're fine for 2013 at the 2/3 with Irvin, LeVert, Stauskas and GR3 at the 2/3. More guys than minutes, barring injury. You can assume that GR3 is leaving after this year for roster purposes but even still the solution to that is to add a Booker caliber 2014 2/3 rather than a last minute guy who is a role player like we did with LeVert last year.

I was unaware he had any eligibility left???  I didn't know he ever redshirted, thought he played a little bit each year for the past 4 years.

I was curious about that too, but according to his MGoBlue profile, he did not play in any games in the 2009-10 season, so Blake must have redshirted during his freshman year.

Nonetheless, he was an important part of the senior leadership which got this team to the championship game and that will not be forgotten. Good luck, Blake!

I know. I wasn't really kidding when I said I'm going to miss it. I remember him being 2-4 at one point and then he started shooting them a bit more. He still apparently finished 5-12 that season. I just always loved how absolutely no one would cover him, he'd stand there for a second, then he'd realize they weren't going to close out on him and he'd put it up.

Better than he gets credit for, showed up when we needed him, led the bench mob when PT wasn't there. Always had a smile, always represented Michigan the way Bo and Michigan Men of the past would love.

McLimas and Vogrich both, very proud to say I was able to root for them. Loved watching them during the tourney run...having the time of their lives.

Neither will be look at as an all-time great. But if we had a chance to recruit them again, I'd do it. You needs guys like these two. Leaders.

Best of luck to both...keep shootin' boys!

NTMiami.  By all accounts he was an excellent teammate.  I hope he gets tons of playing time.  Wish him the best.
