Visitors: Michigan vs. Ohio State
I know it's early in the week, but there are a ton of big-time visitors headed to Ann Arbor this coming weekend for The Game. I've been trying to keep up with all the kids coming to town, but I'm sure there will be additiions (and perhaps some subtractions) by Saturday.

That's an impressive list! Hope we can win Bush over once and for all.

Holy fuck that is quite the list.

There are too many visitors coming in to rule it out. A lot of these guys who have waited this long, though, are either planning to take several official visits after their senior seasons, or they're waiting until the various all-star games to announce. I wouldn't be surprised if Terrance Davis or Jonathan Jones commits, and maybe a big win could sway someone like Chris Brown or Dontavious Jackson.

What about the guys from Michigan? I didn't see any of them on your list. It seems like this would be a game they would go to.
November 22nd, 2015 at 3:49 PM ^
I'm sure some of them will be visiting. I don't think those visits are quite as big of a deal publicly because it just involves driving an hour to Ann Arbor, whereas a lot of these guys have to make travel plans, get plane tickets, etc.

What's the rule for unofficial visitors regarding tickets? Can they be given tickets or do they have to buy them? Because this is not a game that will be easy to buy tickets to.
November 22nd, 2015 at 4:02 PM ^
Unofficial visitors still have to purchase their tickets, but Michigan allots certain tickets and seats for them. So a kid like Fred Hansard won't be sitting in row 93.

And they charge face value, I assume?
November 22nd, 2015 at 4:33 PM ^
Yes. Otherwise, it would be a recruiting violation.

"Flood" is too strong of a word. Lots of these kids are coming from a long ways away, and Michigan is playing from behind for some of them. The best Michigan can do for some of these kids is put themselves in prime position for the next few weeks until some of these kids announce at the UA and Army All-American games. It also seems like Michigan discourages kids from making emotional, in-the-moment decisions and wants them to think about their choices after they go home.

I don't think they would turn down Mecole Hardman, for example, if he wanted to commit. I think the big thing is that a) they want people who are going to stay committed and b) they don't want player #2 on their board to prevent player #1 from committing. So let's say Chris Brown tried to commit, but the coaches feel good about Hardman. They would probably ask Brown to hold off in the hopes that they could convince Hardman to come.
P.S. That previous scenario is both unlikely and entirely made up. I don't know whether the coaches would take both Brown or Hardman, or how many spots they're recruiting for in general. It's just an example of a scenario.

I forgot Elliott.
I had Delance down for a visit a couple weeks ago, which didn't happen. I didn't know that he had rescheduled, but yeah, Rivals lists him, too.
EDIT: Delance isn't visiting now. He has a playoff game and tweeted out that he'll reschedule the Michigan visit. I think that might be bad news if he doesn't get the game-day experience, but the coaches may be able to give him more attention if he's in town another weekend.

Beat OSU
PSU beats MSU
4-5 4 and 5 star recruits committ
profit

Magnus, do you think Sparty beating the Buckeyes yesterday is going to hurt us with any recruits?
The NFL pedigree of much of our coaching staff would seem to be a huge draw.
November 22nd, 2015 at 6:31 PM ^
I don't think yesterday's MSU/OSU game has much to do with our recruiting situation. Most of the guys we're recruiting at this point are not really considering Michigan State, except for Donnie Corley. And I think some of the guys on our radar are as good as or better than Corley, so that wouldn't be a huge loss if we can still get one or two of those other players. Otherwise, we're battling teams like Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, etc.

damn velus jones looks like a player. that dude should be rated higher.
i didnt see film of jones on D so not sure his versatility / ability on that side of the ball (though given his athleticism, hed prob also be a nice DB prospect after a little coaching and development) but hes no doubt potential impact player on O and ST.
precisely the type of explosive athlete they need (and obviously want) to add. they could use a half dozen similarly sized, similarly skilled players on roster. similar game to pie young though velus jones looks little more explosive with the ball in his hands. hed be a great addition.
hopefully the fellas finish strong this weekend but either way these recruits are catching a great game

Velus Jones does look good. He's not playing against great competition, but I agree that he should probably be rated higher. I don't look at him and see just a 3-star prospect.

I saw Kingston Davis listed as the #1 fullback. Is he still coming in as a tail back?
November 23rd, 2015 at 8:11 AM ^
Yes, the plan is still for him to play tailback. He does not want to be a fullback, but that doesn't really change where the recruiting sites rank him.
