Here is a vine from Alejando Z.(umhoops/Harbaugh's go getter) of the last play of the Northwestern game.  I think Levert won the game tipping the ball back so they couldn't get a last second shot off.

Not sure if Caris's foot being stepped on by Olah(270lbs) or the way Levert landed on his left leg after he tipped it back caused the injury.

Best wishes to him on a speedy recovery and bright future.

Zooming in, he got stepped on by Olah (left foot) and then landed awkwardly on that same foot. This sucks. I'll still root on the team, but this pretty much spells doom for our season unless someone steps up big time. I HOPE I'm wrong.

it is any more doomed that it already was.  There was a chance that this team could make the tourney with a good run the Big Ten(I think there is still a remote chance) but things were not shaping up well.  At this point, I feel bad for Levert, he could have probably safely left last year, he came back and the team really struggled and I believe his stock likely fell a couple of notches.

As for the team, I don't think this is 100% worse thing ever.  There is kind a log jam at the "position" that Caris plays, however you want to label that position.  For better or worse, we are looking at the hand that has been dealt to us for the next couple of years in terms of our freshman class.  I think that getting them extensive game action is imperative at this point, and this kind of takes some pressure off in the short term.  I think that JB has kind of been between playing for this year and building for the future, and this development kind of forces his hand.

As good of a complete players that Levert is, I would not be surprised if you see this team play a lot looser from this point forward.  I think we will say streches of very promising play, and more vocal leadership from Irvin and Walton.  I don't know if that will translate to the NCAA tourney, but this team will certainly make the NIT and probably do very well in it.

Hard to believe that with all the conditioning and training these guys go through, such an innocent looking landing could result in a season ending injury. Looks like he just landed on the forward, outer part of his left foot instead of on the ball of the foot. Here's wishing him a fast and complete recovery.

To what the OP said, it looks like he just landed awkwardly, but I also remember that he was still on the floor as the rest of the team began celebrating, so quite clearly the pain was pretty immediate and immense. I believe it is the same foot he had surgery on last spring too. I wish LeVert a full and speedy recovery and I do hope we see him return 100% next season.

So this makes 6 rotation players gone from last year. Hard to reload the next season when you're not recruiting at a Kentucky level.

The foot probably was weakening before this because it doesn't seem like the impact of the landing is all that harsh.  My guess is that it probably would have happened some other time if not then.
