I know it's impossible to calculate, but I wonder what our season record would've been last year if our turnover ratio would have been average in college football instead of one of the worst. You've gotta think we would've scored more, or at the very least not stressed our defense to the breaking point so many times.

We out rushed them and had more total yards of offense, time of possession, first downs, and a higher third down conversion percentage. Yet, we lost by 16 points. #THEBRADYHOKEDIFFERENCE

Utah had four field goals (one of which they only got into field position on a turnover) and one special teams touchdown. Our defense did not give them much (16 points).

Our offense, however, only scored THREE points. God...

...realize how important this "statement game" is for the balance of their seasons.

A win means confidence, a little swag and general feelings of optimism. A loss means doubt, more than a few questions and general feelings of pessimism.

Here's to hoping we keep the Utes off balance all game long.

Senior wideout Kenneth Scott, meanwhile, said the Michigan contingent is already talking trash — "everybody notices it" — and he joined the fun.
Is this the same douchebag who struck the Heisman pose in Michigan Stadium last year?!

Well I suppose a good thing in all of this is that because Michigan is a complete unknown right now, it'll be somewhat tough for Utah to put together a great game plan. But they'll be a tough out for sure.

Just take care of the glab-danged football and they should be alright. Turnovers were what killed Michigan in this game last year.

If we can keep things simple, check the ball down, throw it away and just take what they give us this game will be close. Watching Jake throw three picks to us was not fun, and I'm hoping our line can keep him from getting panicked. My biggest fascination with this game is by far the OL play. If we can open up some holes and rotate our backs in and out we can wear them down. I'm thinking Peppers will make a game-changing play in this one, and I'm hoping it's at a crucial time. Man, next Thursday can't get here fast enough!

I get it that Utah was better than us last year.

But......(1) our guys really underperform last year, (2) our talent must be better from scholarship players 1 through 85, (3) the new coaching staff is about as good as a college team could have.

That leads me to conclude that UM comes out of this with a hard fought victory.

I don't think you're crazy at all.  I sure as hell wouldn't want to be Kyle Wittingham...how do you prepare for a team full of talent that has been retooled and not the same as all the game film you have?  He's got to make some guesses as to what the Harbaugh playbook is based on past schemes as HC of Stanford, 49ers, et al.

Kyle may be expecting a 1970s diesel powered submarine and what may emerge out of the ocean is a lethal, nuclear powered stealth sub with enough firepower to flatten his school 283 times over.

a football team this year ranked 121st in the nation (-16) in turnover margin.

It's easy to decisively win on the road when your opponent is killing its own drives, underminining team momentum, exhausting the defense, gifting the opponent more tries/opportunities to score.

It should be a great game. Utah's homefield advantage will be tough. They have a good team, but Michigan is different this time and better in my opinion.

One wrinkle I haven't seen discussed much is that Utah's coach before Urban Meyer, Ron McBride spent a month in Ann Arbor this spring sitting in film sessions with the staff. Reportedly his son in law is on Harbaugh's staff--I don't recall who. McBride will be familiar with Utah, BYU (Utah's primary in-state rival) and Oregon State (with Gary and Kalani Sitake being Whittingham DCs at Utah previously). I expect there will have been quite a bit of good info re trends and schemes discussed.

I'm a Utah fan but from a planning and matchup perspective I think Michigan will give Utah plenty to deal with. Both are run first attacks and both boast strong defensive fronts and decent athleticism in the secondary. I don't think this game gets higher than 17-14. I can't say which gets which.
