So it seems that Utah is focused and "up" for the game. Oh well. I guess it's too much to ask for a team to casually overlook a season opener against a traditional power with a new coach who has been the celebrity of college football for the last 8 months.

Don't feed the trolls kids. We only have the most wins in college history. I've never understood the allure of wasting time trolling a rival fan page. Shows there's not much to do in Ohio, in addition to how truly worried they are their recent run is basically over (most likely not this year, but soon).

Senior wideout Kenneth Scott, meanwhile, said the Michigan contingent is already talking trash — "everybody notices it" — and he joined the fun.

The team's been in a submarine. What is there to notice? Somehow they've gone to the Mark Dantonio School of Playing the Underdog (Who's Favored by Vegas)

Does anyone else get the sense that this game will garner some really high TV ratings? -HARBAUGH -prime time Thursday night -college football FINALLY getting started -Michigan -HARBAUGH -huge UM fan base -huge OSU fan base (I'd assume they'll be watching intently) -not quite as big, but big enough Sparty fan base (they'll ALL be watching, and they'll feel slighted at how UM got big time ratings, when ironically, they helped create the very thing by which they're feeling slighted) -HARBAUGH

I will be watching. The " ratings" are not a thought. Maybe UM fans, I don't know. But I do know that none of us would miss the chance to see Hairball and his bums get their nuts kicked in by a Utah team that beat 7 power 5 teams last year. And with almost certainty that is exactly what we will all see, with the rest of the country. The day after I'll visit this site to read all the excuses of how it's his first year etc....and that's OK, he is no Urban Meyer, nobody thinks he will go undefeated in his first year.

UTAH is going to stack the box and challenge us to throw. If Rudock comes through with a clutch throw on third downs, we will be in a good shape. I am sure UTAH has seen what Baxter can do. I want a TD just like UTAH had last year on special teams. It will be a fun game.

on the Huge Show.  It wasn't that long of an interview, but he echoed what the article said when asked about how he was prepping for the game.  Basically, he said that there are similarities in all the schemes used by Harbaugh in all the places he's coached and that's what they're looking at.   He also said his team (Utah) needed to do a much better job throwing the ball vs. what they did last year.  The running game was where they wanted it to be though.

Overall I think Harbaugh and his coaches have the advantage in preparing for this game simply because we have much better film to look at.  Michigan can see everything Utah did last year in their games and they have to look at Florida, USC, old Stanford, and 49er film, then try and guess.

On the defensive side Kalani Sitake did leave but he's being replaced with former D-Line coach John Pease who was with the Utes for years. Utah's defense never was Kalani's. That's one reason he left. Utah has run the Fred Whittingham defense since Mad Dog came here in the early 90's. If anything changes, Pease is probably more aggressive than Kalani ever was. On the offensive side, it's the best example of addition by subtraction I've ever seen. Dave Christensen was the definition of a locker room cancer there was. One player said that Dave was the guy that made Norm Chow look like someone you'd like to coach with. Aaron Roderick, who recruited Travis Wilson, will be calling plays that show Travis's strengths unlike last year. Not as big of a deal as it might seem like.

I'm a couch potato and don't know the goals of film study -- do you watch it just for schemes, or to watch for specific players too?  Because in addition to film on the 49ers, Stanford, Florida, and USC -- as if that wasn't enough -- don't they also need to watch not only UM film from last year, but also Iowa film on our starting QB.  That's a lot to digest -- and they really can't know for sure what parts of all that film is relevant to them.

At least, to their advantage, they've had all summer.

You watch for both, team/coach schemes and player tendencies/skills. You need to know plays as well as does this tackle overset usually? Does he lean? What is this receivers get off move wen you jam him? so you are correct they'd need to watch our film, maybe Stanford and SF, Florida D, and Rudock film. I guess our patchwork quilt has an advantage right now haha
