Apparently noone told Trey we found him a back-up.  I wonder if that was intentional.  Ha.

If you're refering to me I didnt "hate on" the Sullingers...I simply posted what I had heard from several people down here in Ohio.  Super cool that it went the other way but posting that they were advising Trey to go pro now due to Jared's drop in draft status year on year is hardly "hating on" them.

Looks like Vogrich and Bartelstein are agonizing over this presser.  Funny to watch.  Good to put Trey in front of media to clear the air, but wonder why the other players don't have similar announcements to make?  Staying should be the expectation, pressers should be held for the unexpected - guys leaving school early.

It's easier for the athletic department to just hold a press conference so everyone has a chance to ask Trey a question and get his response than having to deal with 50 requests for a statement. If they were interested in the other players, there would something for them too. Harsh, but true.

Good to hear what he had to say and I understand why his teammates were there (to show their support), but did it seem a bit awkward and focused on one player to have just Burke speak about his stuff while his teammates stood there? Great to have him back and better to hear that he had a level head on his shoulders the whole time. It sounds like it might be for only one more year, but that year could mean everything to us and him.

What do you think Vogrich is thinking in the background?

"F**K DUDE, I'M SO HUNGRY! I hope they got Chicken Brocolli Bake for dinner today...."

#1 Vogrich is funny back there...very "a.d.d.-like"

#2 I mentioned in another thread...Satch Sullinger would NEVER tell Jared, Trey or anyone else close to him to leave college in this situation.

#3 Spike is going to be a great addition to take some minutes from Trey so he's not as tired late in games

#4 I love Trey's demeanor, I said this in another thread as well...he's very prefessional in everything he does. This presser was no different. With that said, I think we really have to guard against a sophomore slump ala Hardaway. I think it's different for Trey because he plays a position that is so vital and important. But when you're so close to the NBA, it can be tough to come back. I think you can feel you're better than much of the talent you face and you lose some of that fire. I think it's easier to get complacent and not work as hard...hope this doesn't happen with Trey. On or off the court.

#5 This team has a chance to be GREAT, not good, GREAT next year.

is it just me or does it look like he smoked a joint before this presser and now he's bugging out inside?

can you buys those sweet practice jerseys that say "michigan basketball" on them? i looked in the mden but i couldn't find them...

trey sounds very presidential.

At tomorrow's banquet, will Smotrycz/Christian/Brundidge be there?  It may sound like a strange question since they're transferring, but they were part of the team that's being honored.

unhappy with his decision?  He sounded like a guy who was explaining someone else's decision that he didn't really agree with.  I get the very strong feeling that he buckled under a lot of pressure from others (family, coaches) who wanted him to come back.  I think he REALLY wanted to go.

I hesitate to post this given the source, but Mark Snyder provided a possible explanation:

He left Ann Arbor to head home to Columbus, Ohio, for the holiday weekend with his family -- cleaning out some of his dorm room because it was approaching the end of the school year anyway -- and the time spent there reinforced his shifted decision to spend another year at Michigan. [emphasis added]

Instead of a Free Press link, see this link for USA Today, which picked up Snyder's story.

Snyder also "helpfully" points out that "Burke could still change his mind before the official April 29 NBA early entry deadline."

The entire time I was hoping Vogrich would approach the podium after Trey finished and announce that he too would be returning for another season.
