showed for the spring game, the shit house not even half way full. OSU has 56,000 tickets sold already and it's still a week away. Seems OSU beats UM at everything, every year. Except before 1920, when Michigan was good. If only UM could go back to paying grown men to play on their behalf, instead of having to play actual students, maybe it could find glory again. To bad those days are gone.

You know that buckeye fans are scared when they resort to bragging about spring game attendance.

The Buckeyes will always have more spring game attendance bc the only thing to do in Ohio other than meth, is go watch ohio.

O'Korn made some better throws than I remember. He also made a lot of really poor decisions and was lucky to not throw an INT a few times. Fits the bill with what we've heard. He won't be throwing against a converted walk-on WR moonlighting as CB like he did in this one (think he completed 4 of his passes against poor damn Sloss).

See, I actually feel the opposite after watching the Spring Game.  I think O'Korn raised his stock even more and I'm now convinced he'll be the starter this fall.

Yeah, Speight looked good and Peters as well, but O'Korn has that mobility that is just a game changer.  It looked like 90% of the time he ran with the ball he got a first down (or better).  Speight and Peters just can't replicate that.

I would gladly trade 10 to 20% throwing accuracy for 40% gain in mobility.  And it's not like O'Korn's passing was terrible either.

Mobility is great, but O'Korn rarely went through his progressions. Anytime the first read wasn't available, O'Korn took off.

Speight was much more relaxed in the pocket, and while not as fast as O'Korn, can still get out of the pocket and pick up yards with his legs.

The race for starting QB is close, and either guy could snatch the spot away from the other. If O'Korn develops a better pocket presence, I think his mobility makes him the guy. Right now though, it's Speight, and if Wilton continues to improve he will be a solid starter!

...or throwing to the deadly receiving corps of Morris, Wangler and Jocz.

It takes great individual performances by the QBs in this format to separate themselves. O'Korn's proving he's a dual threat that can also throw the deep ball. Once he settles down in the pocket, and gets on the same page as his backs and receivers, I think we'll see a much more efficient passer/leader.

A note on Speight: he actually moved well enough to pick up decent yardage on bootlegs and keepers. I think his deep ball sails but I could see him pushing O'Korn hard for the starting position come fall (Morris still looks raw and Peters could really benefit from taking that redshirt before being thrown to the wolves).

the choice being high upside vs. low variance.

I gotta admit, right now I'd be with low variance.

Fall practice oftentimes changes everything of course. We'll see.

Good field and situation awareness, cool under pressure. Not that it means diddly-squat at this point in time, but that pass to Wheatley should be credited as a completion, then a fumble on Tyrone's part, since it looked like he took a step after the catch and THEN lost the ball.

Big thanks to the OP for editing the replay by QB.

I thought each QB showed some positives.

I thought O'Korn showed the most potential - his arm and legs looked the best to me.

O'Korn was a little too quick to run, but split line, its a spring game, he hasn't played since 2014 blah blah blah, not worried.  We will be fine with either Speight or O'Korn.

OT...is there any video of the signees being introduced at halftime?  BTN2GO didn't cover it. Thx

I thought Speight's sideline throws sometimes took a while to get there.

When live bullets fly, that could lead to PBU or INT.  His variance may not be all that low.

I just ended up only really watching the OL/TE's in blocking and came away with this for the most part.

Cole managed pretty well at center, needs some work still but definitely capable of replacing Glasgow in the center. Not sure how he managed intangibles, but the OL often seemed to at least be identifying their assignments fairly well, as far the actual execution of assignments, that's a different matter, though not bad considering the caliber of the DL they were facing.

Newsome struggled, especially run blocking it seemed. He just seemed either hesitant or just really got beat. Could just be an off day but he didn't seem very sharp.

Kugler was alright, but really needs to do a better job protecting his chest. He immediately drops his hands and doesn't keep them ready to strike (evident in the O'Korn clip where a LB runs full speed in to him and sends him flying). But overall was fairly serviceable. Cole is definitely ahead here but after watching the spring game alone, Kugler seemed to play better than Newsome throughout the day. At minimum, Kugler seemed to organize the OL well given there were less missed blocks when he was in.

Two most impressive guys (based on expectations somewhat) where Kalis and Runyan Jr. They both were physical, aggressive run blockers. Kalis especially seemed to be holding up pretty well in pass protection, but if there's one area that they need to improve on its pulling, identifying the LB they need to block and driving through them, rather than fitting them up.

Overall, I felt the OL play was actually fairly decent in the run game, however, the defense was schemed very well, bringing lots of blitzes and pressures designed to shut down the run. If any area was concerning, I felt the TE's struggled heavily, as often they were beaten to the inside on run plays, and overall abused at the LoS. Granted, this could just be that it seemed to be mostly younger guys in there. But overall, I give the OL a B/B- on the day. I really like what the unit could be once they have a chance to go up against some easier DLs to get in a groove. They could hit strid right by the time they play MSU and OSU.
