No problem

at times the offense looks good, at times the defense looks good. They both seem to be learning, so this is definitely encouraging video. Thanks for sharing

The way DG throws that ball so effortlessly reminds me of.... Vince Young. He has the same effortless stride on that roll out TD. I'd love if DG were that type of college player

DG is no VY when it comes to pure speed, but he sure looks

smooooooth.

Nice to see Fitz with the ball and making things happen. Every time he gets popped I cringe, though.

I know what you mean

He's got that loping gate, that... gliding style of running. Pryor has it too. They don't look like they're running very fast but he's distancing himself from everyone. It's crazy

I like Gardner's throwing

I like Gardner's throwing motion more than Vince Young's.  Young had more of a sidearm delivery.

I'm late to the game

Seeing some good stuff in there from both sides of the ball. Can't wait for the Spring Game!

EDIT: Removed the embedded video, because I obviously am slow as all get out.

Denard

Denard was looking good throwing the ball - i really think he will excel throwing the ball this year

Also Fitz looking like a monster on the long run!

question:

Is anyone that confident that Denard will run the new offense any better than Gardner?  Gardner makes it look pretty effortless when he throws that ball.

Well a lot of reports I've

Well a lot of reports I've been reading talk about how the zone read and shotgun are pretty heavily featured in the offense, so it might just be that in these particular clips Devin looks more suited.  We've got the best athlete in the Big 10 at QB, so I'd think he's gonna start.

Gardner

I think he's always looked very athletic and comfortable out there, but that @#$%ing shot-put throwing motion of his drives me crazy, even though it seems to get the job done.

Denard is the starter, but

Gardner is going to be fantastic.  This offense suits him better.  The gap will narrow, which means we have two strong QB's, which is crucial these days.

Gardener will get some

Gardener will get some playing time this year. If last year taught us anything it's that Denard's style of play, though electric, leaves him vunerable to taking some big hits.

I've yet to see any great

I've yet to see any great roll out plays for Denard in these videos so far.  Makes me a sad panda.  Though, without actually being in the coaches head they may be trying to get the MANBALL stuff in there first, or they may purposely holding back footage of those plays.  Either way, I'll never be content.  September can't get here soon enough.

One of the videos (can't remember which one) has Denard rolling out and hitting Moore for a nice gain.

Are you talking about Denard

Are you talking about Denard rolling out and then running?  Because he rolled-out on a PA fake and threw an effing dart to Odoms for a TD....

It's practice

And Denard doesn't need to practice his running.

Looking back over last season, the long Denard runs occurred when they weren't expected.  He still racked up stats in the latter part of the season, but everyone expected him to run, which then opened up some passing.

He still always be able to throw faster than he can run.  But the time a team decides to keep everyone covered is going to be exciting.

I know Shaw has track speed, but he left everyone in his dust on his run. Hopefully he and Fitz can stay healthy and be big play threats this year.

Shaw needs an opening

and he can leave everybody in dust.  The problem with Shaw is he is usually indecisive on where to go and doesn't really have much of a wiggle to get by defenders. No doubting his speed but he really needs to be in open space if he wants to use his speed.

I'd forgotten how fast

Shaw is in the open field.  He played so little towards the end of last year.  His biggest issue has been staying healthy in my mind.  I always liked him better than Vincent Smith.

My quick observations

1.) Our Tackling still scares me

2,) Our stable of backs looks great

3.) Gardner throws a money ball, and scrambles out of the pocket effortlessly

4.) Denard looks better than I would have envisioned at this point

5.) Looks like Big Will is up with the 1's.

6.) I can't wait for the spring game to do a full evaluation...

Two things: 1) I have been

Two things:

1) I have been surprised at how much I see Gallon at WR with the 1's.  I thought he would all but disappear with the new staff.

2) I have been surprised at how little I see of Roundtree at WR in any highlight ever.  He seems to have all but disappeared.

I realize that all of the clips have been just that, clips, and probably don't tell the full story.  But just an observation.

Regarding #1

The new offense is going to put more emphasis on overall talent than specific application. If Gallon gets it done as well as the other guys talent wise, it's not going to matter if he "fits" right. In Rodriguez offense, guys that got it done talent wise but didn't have that one key skill, or were too tall or what have you fell by the wayside.

My overview of this video is as follows:

Offense: does NOT look like they've lost a step.

Defense: Looks better than they did last year, anyway.

Thing I was glad to see: PBU

Thing I wish I'd seen: Excellent play on the ball for an INT.

Thing I'm glad I didn't see: Poor throw resulting in an INT.

Best Part: Probably that 35 yard strike from Denard into the end zone.

Worst Part: Less than 2 minutes? NOOOO!!!!!!!

I don't think I agree with

I don't think I agree with your RR assesment, but besides that Gallon just didn't seem that talented to begin with.  If he is, AWESOME, I want all Michigan players to be talented.  I just haven't been impressed with him before.

Gallon showed a ton of

Gallon showed a ton of potential before arriving at MICH at least.  At the Army All American practices the coaches were raving about his ability to get open and catch everything.  Also he's very slippery and pretty darn fast.  Also, for whatever reason the coaches chose him to return kicks last year.  I know he screwed up in game time with those, but it's not like the coaches just wanted to screw Michigan as much as possible; they saw something.

What?

What are you trying to say with your 1st paragraph?  Are you saying RR didn't play guys because they were too tall?   Hemingway, Koger, Stonum, Greg Matthews are all some of the bigger guys we've had at the WR and TE positions.  What elite player didn't play because they were missing 1 skill?

Just be happy for the current team and their progress, don't drag in any vague old meme's about RR playing smurfs.

What elite player didn't play because they were missing 1 skill?

Boubacar Cissoko was arguably only missing one skill.

Regarding excellent play on

Regarding excellent play on the ball for an INT:

According to gbmw, Carvin made an interception.

I believe the biggest hit, and one of the two you are referring to, is #31 which would be Van Slyke.

Van Slyke

Van Slyke made the huge stick on Fitz's goal line dive play too!  That was just a pretty stuff on a short yardage play.

Is it just me or does Hopkins' running form look just like Minor's. Kindof a strange motion. Here's to MOOSEBEAST RAGE!

Names

Is there any reason some people have names on their back, and others don't? It seems kinda random

Some numbers might be changing often

Adidas might be looking at different style choices, and each guy has more than one practice jersey. It's possible that each guy only gets one practice jersey with his name, and they don't all wear that the same day.

It's not a "no wings" issue.

the Transcontinental, with Denard out there.

Defense: "Okay, keep contain on Denard. Keep contain on D- He passed it! Run! Get the receive- AHG! He threw it back and now I'm 10 yards off Denard! NOO! TOUCHDOWN!"

Players that stood out to me

Players that stood out to me were, Denard (Stevie Wonder would agree with me on this one) Odoms, M-Rob, Fitz T, Shaw and Gardner makes it look almost effortless. On the play where he had a long TD run his stride looked like 10 yards a step. Cant fucking wait for the spring game

I see a lot of newbies on the board...

Welcome and let's Go Blue.

Awsome video...thanks for posting it.  Love the defensive attitude, and pray for better tackling than last year.  Can't WAIT.

Alot to get excited about!

Alot to get excited about! I'm really glad to see the success in our backfield. A more balanced running attack can only make Denard more dangerous!! Wished there was some video of Cox running the ball on this one. The other videos I have seen have him looking great in this offense. Can't wait for the spring game!!!
