in that game. Toussaint again looks fine, despite the criticisms. And Rawls and Hayes make great change-of-pace backs.

This team doesn't need to fear anyone going forward.

I can't agree with you that 3.4 YPC on 18 carries is "fine" against a weak defense like Illinois, especially when we have two other guys, Rawls and Hayes, who are averaging 7.0 and 6.5 YPC on the year, respectively. I don't think starting one of them is the answer, but Fitz needs to step up and return to his 2011 self, or else the staff needs to start playing Rawls and Hayes earlier in the games to give the offense a change of pace.

I never understand the "if-you-take-out-his-really-long-run-his-numbers-weren't-that-impressive" argument. That statement would be true for ANY runningback. Most of the carries by a RB are usually pretty short (2-5 yards) with an occasional long run sprinkled in to bolster the ypc average.

The problem with Fitz is that he is not getting any long runs even though he has had the most opportunities. He has one carry that went for more than 20 yards this season (a 31-yarder against ND) in 71 rushing attempts and that is pretty pathetic. His longest carry against the 4 "meh" teams UM has played (AF, UMass, Purdue and Illinois) is 13 yards...again, pathetic.
