Barnum's facemask on #34 really helped spring the play out into the open.

Had that call been made, the game might have been COMPLETELY different
Sincerely,
Yankees fans complaining about missed call at 2nd base.

in that game. Toussaint again looks fine, despite the criticisms. And Rawls and Hayes make great change-of-pace backs.
This team doesn't need to fear anyone going forward.

I can't agree with you that 3.4 YPC on 18 carries is "fine" against a weak defense like Illinois, especially when we have two other guys, Rawls and Hayes, who are averaging 7.0 and 6.5 YPC on the year, respectively. I don't think starting one of them is the answer, but Fitz needs to step up and return to his 2011 self, or else the staff needs to start playing Rawls and Hayes earlier in the games to give the offense a change of pace.

on that screen pass though.

To be fair, Rawls' numbers were padded a bit by that long run. Otherwise he comes in just under 3.4 ypc. Also, Hayes put the ball on the turf. He was lucky that it bounced back into his chest. Maybe he should hit up Beilein, looked like he was playing basketball out there.

I never understand the "if-you-take-out-his-really-long-run-his-numbers-weren't-that-impressive" argument. That statement would be true for ANY runningback. Most of the carries by a RB are usually pretty short (2-5 yards) with an occasional long run sprinkled in to bolster the ypc average.
The problem with Fitz is that he is not getting any long runs even though he has had the most opportunities. He has one carry that went for more than 20 yards this season (a 31-yarder against ND) in 71 rushing attempts and that is pretty pathetic. His longest carry against the 4 "meh" teams UM has played (AF, UMass, Purdue and Illinois) is 13 yards...again, pathetic.

Was Power from the I. The pulling guard didn't even block anyone. We suck at power, and that was all the backup OL.
Illinois is awful.

At 8:24, both tackles pull. In opposite directions.
I can't imagine that was by design.

I missed the Norfleet big punt return live, and can't find it on the interwebs. Any video of that in here or elsewhere?

Punt returns are in the defense video.
