I didn't see it live either, I sit behind the opposing bench. I read Drew Hallett's column on yahoo, which gave a breakdown of the sequence, and had the video. I am appalled and beyond disappointed. I will always support the Team, and until yesterday, I supported the coaches too. I do not think I can do that anymore. At this point, I am just trying to determine if I think the Team could survive a mid-season firing.

I am SO FUCKING DISGUSTED watching this. SHAME SHAME SHAME on these ass hole coaches leaving that kid in. If I was Morris parents, I would advise him to either transfer or refuse to play for that coach.

off is the fact that Cochran didn't ger tossed after his filthy hit on Morris. That and the fact that none of Shane's teammates confronted Cochran after that play. I can't believe how meek Michigan has become.

The fact that Shane was put into a game when he was clearly in no condition to play at the time was pretty infuriating in itself, but yeah, I would agree with this basically - the fact that no one seemed to be at least appealling to the refs or otherwise calling out Cochran was amazing and upsetting as well. I would have to think it would be a little different if the team atmospere were indeed as it has been described to people.

No matter what the refs did or didn't do, the coaches are responsible for the players. I think that you're right that the refs bear some responsibility. But Hoke has said that the well-being of the players is his priority and he didn't act to protect Shane when there was literally nothing at stake. It's pretty reprehensible (at worst) -- dangerously incompetent (at best).

In case anyone is wondering exactly what TruBluMich is feeling:

"Outrage is differentiated from anger in that it is an emotion that is triggered by observation of injustice, perceived violations of taboos, privileges or norms by a third party to which the observer may have no immediate relationship."

Were outraged that no penalty was called and the defensive player was not ejected.  Further, they really dissed Hoke for leaving Shane in the game.

"But you know..........number 1, I didn't see Shane get hit".  As usual, Hoke never gets to number 2....never, but what the fuck was he looking at?  The cheerleaders?

Rule 1 of any sport: Protect the kids that are playing the game.

... I know this will get negged, because we are in mob mentality mode, but I'm already exhausted with this self-righteous indignation on the way the coaching staff handled the Morris situation.

I guarantee if Brady Hoke had had the success of a Nick Saban, 90% of the people claiming their disgust would not be asking for the coaches immediate dismissal.

Was putting Shane in the wrong decision? Yes, absolutely.  But how up in arms we are about it seems to have a lot more to do with us being horrible at football than it does with this specific incident.  So let's call it for what it is... ineptitude in every facet of being a head coach.  That's the reason we're all so upset.

Cart before the Horse.  The fact that Hoke is obtuse and stubborn enough to ignore Shane's injury and leave him in the game is one of the very reasons that he will never be a coach on the level of Saban.

And Im not talking about his lack of compassion...he did it to prove a ridiculous 'coaching point'.  Well Saban would have had his guy coached up LONG before that type of incident could even happen...and if it did, he would have another guy ready with his helmet to go in.

This incident in a microcoism, IS about good coaching, as well as being a smart and compassionate, responsible Head Coach.

Brady Hoke fails at all of those,

But people are blowing this out of proportion. If you watch that video, there is no reason to believe Morris had a concussion. He was hit hard, and in pain, but it was not unsafe of him to play.

Again, I'd love any reason to fire hoke, but he did t do anything wrong here.
