I hadn't seen anything up until now. My view was obscured from my seats... here it is in case
someone else wanted to see the feed as well.

"Hoke's evil" may be laying it on a little thick...not that I'd expect less from Deadspin.

I wonder what his mgoblog handle is.

Did kalis get owned or what. Guy just overpowered him and Kalis held him.

I didn't see it live either, I sit behind the opposing bench. I read Drew Hallett's column on yahoo, which gave a breakdown of the sequence, and had the video. I am appalled and beyond disappointed. I will always support the Team, and until yesterday, I supported the coaches too. I do not think I can do that anymore. At this point, I am just trying to determine if I think the Team could survive a mid-season firing.

It turns my stomach. Can't watch it.

This. Michigan is a joke. Its fucking pathetic that someone didn't get in Cochran's face after that (so much for toughness). But even that doesn't top our simpleton of a head coach's decision to leave Morris in for a play.
Fire Hoke yesterday.

The fact that Shane was put into a game when he was clearly in no condition to play at the time was pretty infuriating in itself, but yeah, I would agree with this basically - the fact that no one seemed to be at least appealling to the refs or otherwise calling out Cochran was amazing and upsetting as well. I would have to think it would be a little different if the team atmospere were indeed as it has been described to people.

Where were the doctors? A player comes off the field hurt and isn't seen by any medical staff? Or, he was seen, which looked like what happed on the video, and was cleared to play?

while getting trounced by BGSU at home, Mac Bennett (I think) took a cheap shot and no one from the team came to his aid. They all just let it happen. That team collapsed and had lockerroom issues that came up later.
I would expect that the football team is going through a similar thing
September 28th, 2014 at 2:52 PM ^
With Lewan gone there are no lockerroom issues and never will be.
September 28th, 2014 at 2:35 PM ^
Minnesota could have pulled out a shiv and shanked Kyle Kalis and the refs wouldn't have called it that day. Late hits all over the place.
September 28th, 2014 at 2:42 PM ^
If that had happened, the rest of the players would have stood around with blank looks on their faces while he bled out.
September 28th, 2014 at 1:53 PM ^
The refs should have not let him play and told the coaches. Isn't that standard protocol? Or are you all just in this for the witch hunt? Which is fine.
September 28th, 2014 at 2:17 PM ^
The one possible confounding variable that I see here is that the refs would then have to admit their failure to make the appropriate targeting call.
September 28th, 2014 at 2:38 PM ^
No matter what the refs did or didn't do, the coaches are responsible for the players. I think that you're right that the refs bear some responsibility. But Hoke has said that the well-being of the players is his priority and he didn't act to protect Shane when there was literally nothing at stake. It's pretty reprehensible (at worst) -- dangerously incompetent (at best).
September 28th, 2014 at 3:20 PM ^
On the video, the Ref saw it and asked Hoke if he wanted a time out. Hoke refused. Its on the video and proves that Hoke knew about it and later lied.

by the Big Ten office--at least one game.
Hoke should be tossed permanently. Complete embarassment of a program at this point.

In case anyone is wondering exactly what TruBluMich is feeling:
"Outrage is differentiated from anger in that it is an emotion that is triggered by observation of injustice, perceived violations of taboos, privileges or norms by a third party to which the observer may have no immediate relationship."

Were outraged that no penalty was called and the defensive player was not ejected. Further, they really dissed Hoke for leaving Shane in the game.
"But you know..........number 1, I didn't see Shane get hit". As usual, Hoke never gets to number 2....never, but what the fuck was he looking at? The cheerleaders?
Rule 1 of any sport: Protect the kids that are playing the game.

greeting and consoling Shane as he finally came off the field. He very obviously knew he was hurt.
September 28th, 2014 at 2:28 PM ^
... I know this will get negged, because we are in mob mentality mode, but I'm already exhausted with this self-righteous indignation on the way the coaching staff handled the Morris situation.
I guarantee if Brady Hoke had had the success of a Nick Saban, 90% of the people claiming their disgust would not be asking for the coaches immediate dismissal.
Was putting Shane in the wrong decision? Yes, absolutely. But how up in arms we are about it seems to have a lot more to do with us being horrible at football than it does with this specific incident. So let's call it for what it is... ineptitude in every facet of being a head coach. That's the reason we're all so upset.
September 28th, 2014 at 2:34 PM ^
I can't recall any other coach putting a player back into the game looking like he was about to fall over either.
September 28th, 2014 at 3:27 PM ^
Cart before the Horse. The fact that Hoke is obtuse and stubborn enough to ignore Shane's injury and leave him in the game is one of the very reasons that he will never be a coach on the level of Saban.
And Im not talking about his lack of compassion...he did it to prove a ridiculous 'coaching point'. Well Saban would have had his guy coached up LONG before that type of incident could even happen...and if it did, he would have another guy ready with his helmet to go in.
This incident in a microcoism, IS about good coaching, as well as being a smart and compassionate, responsible Head Coach.
Brady Hoke fails at all of those,

Despite all the losses piling up lately I've never been embarassed to call myself a Michigan fan, but man what I saw yesterday was embarassing and a god damn disgrace.

Yes, you are wrong. Hoke being oblivious to the status of his injured player is bad, but it's not on par with somebody delivering a haymaker to his wife's face.
September 28th, 2014 at 8:49 PM ^
Again, I'd love any reason to fire hoke, but he did t do anything wrong here.
