I enjoy the "Every Snap" as I do like to rewatch games and they are much more educational in this format, at least in my opnion.

I still think that this game showed us much about this team psychologically and it was very positive.

These give you a good feel for how the O and D played. Both really turned it up in the second half - especially the D. I was less impressed with the offense after this rewatch and more impressed with the D

LSA I completely agree. This team seems to finally have the coaching and experience that football is a 4 quarter game and to not get too high or low over the course of a game. Even though there's some glaring concerns with this team there's also equally many things we can be excited about. I think Speights ability to move in the pocket and extend plays with his legs while also being pretty accurate while throwing on the run is a HUGE asset. It's something a quarterback either has or doesn't have and he definitley has it. One thing I'm very surprised about is the lack of emergence of a solid tight end next to Butt. Hopefully as the year goes on that Asiasi develops at a fast pace.

I really really hope your right. I'm starting to write off Bunting though. It just doesn't seem like he can get any separation when running routes. Not 100% on that though.

One thing that stands out to me watching the defense is there are too many times where more than one guy ends up in the same gap. I think it is mostly on the defensive line but at times it is hard to tell. One play near the end I saw three defenders all in the same gap. This can not happen!

Gary got too far up field at times and the play action bite was really hard by the LBs. It created huge throwing lanes for those slants as our coverage in the slot mostly played off the ball giving 7 yards of cushion. The RPO's are going to be a problem for us... But they are for most defenses.

Safety man-to-man coverage was really disappointing. I've got to think you see a lot of Clark and Strib when Lewis comes back and only Hill OR Thomas see the field a lot if we keep playing a lot of man coverage with the safety in the slot.

Offense: Speight looked terrible in this game. Blocking (outside of the TD play) was not that bad and while the receivers didn't have a ton of separation, he could have given them more opportunities to make catches. This was the first game he handled some rush pressure so hopefully he gets used to it and begins to settle in.

Defense: As pointed out by others, the safety issue is likely the long term concern here. I think the big run plays will get cleaned up as players learn better gap integrity, but the lack of speed/coverage skills at the safety position will kill UM against teams with viable deep threats. That may not come until Ohio State, but you better believe they will save the tape of this game.

My takeaways:
The offensive play calling was not my favorite. Too much first down passing, and not enough hot reads/slants on third and short passes. The running game--other than Ty Isaac--looked good all game and I think we could have done more first down running. Isaac looks good but n outside runs, screens, and the occasional bounce to the outside. He can't seem to find the holes between the tackles.
As for Speight, I would say his struggles are being vastly overstated. His receivers were not running great routes or getting much separation. I'd like to see more digs and slants.
Defensively, we had a few breakdowns in the back end and were otherwise excellent. If we can clean that up, this defense goes from good to great very quickly.

receivers were not getting great separation but Speight was way off on a bunch of throws and threw 2 or 3 easy ints that were dropped by defenders. Whatever he had the forst 2 weeks he didn't have this week. I hope it's just an anomoly, rewatching through this video seems worse than it was live.

as the game went on. It seem like CO had twice the offensive plays that Michigan had. We did not see the defense get tired like they use to under RR and Hoke. I was surprised at the job CO OL did against our D LINE. Minus the blitz, the CO QBs had time to throw.

I think the defense will play better against PSU. Lets see the D limit those big plays next week.
