It sounds like the spring game might be more of a game type thing as soon as this year.
"Rodrick Williams Jr.'s 10-month old, 2-foot-long savannah monitor named "Kill" gets the RB some strange looks when they go for walks together."
What they've done from a genetic standpoint? Brady, I'd love to know how they pulled that off =P Now I finally get why we've gone back to being "Fort Schembechler"
You've never seen the movie Wolverine? We are a team of mutants who regenerate and have super quick reflexes with massive power. (basically the team is now all mix of Denard Robinson and Mike Martin and Jake Long).
But with more speed and ability to shed tackles.
Morgan at Mike.
I was surprised that he described Drake Johnson as "Big" then gave a long pause, and talked about him running downhill and breaking tackles. He didn't mention speed at all. Wasn't Drake's major asset speed coming out of high school? I thought he was an elite track star.
He was a pretty good hurdler. Set the state record his junior year I believe. Bu he's also pretty big.
Pretty good? He was a 3-time state champ in the largest division, and yes, set a state record. That makes him better than "pretty good."
Yes, Drake is very fast, but he's also a big, tough runner.
for this, but football speed (pads on) is quite different from track speed.
I knew a buddy in HS who ran a 4.6 40, but couldn't catch up to nearly anyone on the turf. Not expert experience coming from someone who merely played HS ball, but seemed like this affected a number of guys.
Maybe it's a lesser problem for those elite/D1 athletes on the track.
Although its true that track speed doesn't translate for everyone, you'd rather have your football players run fast on the track than not. There are also tons of very good football players who were also great track athletes. Considering Drake was also a super productive HS running back, it's probably safe to say his speed translates pretty well.
No one is saying Drake will be a good football players simply because of his track exploits, but it's fair to say his speed is a strength.
Likely own thread worthy, but as reported on MLive, and as commented in lesser detail in Hoke's press conference, 4 players depart before spring practice. These include DT Kenny Wilkins, TE Nate Allspach (walk-on), Andrew Offerdahl (walk-on), and most notably WR Richardo Miller. This last departure thins out an already anorexic WR corps for this upcoming season.
Didn't Miller leave the team quite a while ago?
Miller left the team months ago. Like in the fall.
It already has its own thread.
I wouldn't say it was more than expected, we lost zero players who played a snap in an actual game.
WOW It's like that guy is really good or something.
Glad to hear Bellomy get some love.
Ditto for Cam Gordon; I would love to see Cam and Jake on the field at the same time, and listening to Hoke, it sounds like it is going to happen.
Yeah, I thought it was telling.
I know most people will be happy if he can just be a serviceable backup so Shane can redshirt, but he's only played one bad (ok, really bad) half. Remember how bad Devin looked in the spring game last year or how bad Gibbons was his first year? It wouldn't shock me if Bellomy plays and plays well at some point before his career is over.
Edit: I just realized you were probably talking about Cam and Jake on the field at the same time.
After reading the recap, I only watched this to be reminded of what it was like to watch Hoke speak and to get a little excited for spring football. Somehow I got to thinking about how we are going to get to watch Hoke age quite a bit if things go well. Just imagine a grey-haired, short-sleeved Hoke looking wise on the sideline in about 12 years. Pretty awesome if you ask me. That will eventually be the imagine that will linger on. Sorry if this was strange to anybody. Carry on.
I watched it thinking he will be a fantastic grizzled old man. His voice and demeanor, we may witness something epic.
Come on now, we can't build a monument to Hoke just yet. He has to go out there each week and compete.
In otherwords Rawls is done, Fitz is one fumble away from seeing the wood, and its Derrick Greens position to loose.
it's that simple.
When do spring rosters come out?
The surprise visitor is this weekend chantel Jennings is talking about on twitter
Fort Schembechler at its finest.
