Video: Friday Scrimmage Highlights

Submitted by Thorin on

In addition to sucking, the mgoblue audio matched third party content on youtube, forcing me to lay a track over it and re-upload. Not sure why there's music in the first place. I'd rather listen to pads.

Snapping directly to your WR is nothing short of diabolical.

I can see it now...

Pre-season meeting, deep in the bowels of Ft. Schembechler

Hoke: (pointing toward "the blogosphere") these bloggers are doing a fine job, but they're driving me crazy.

Borges: (nodding) yeah, that one kid keeps asking about bubble screens. I'm going to snap.

Mattison: we need to distract them.

Borges: I know! Let's tell them Gardner is going to be a receiver. That will keep them busy analyzing and discussing things and we can get some work done!

Hoke: (points at Borges) tremendous idea!

Anyone else shudder when they saw a QB in a #8 jersey taking snaps?  Glad to remember Bellomy switched numbers in the offseason.

I'm just waiting for the play by play breakdown from Brian.

Also... Denard was really holding the ball like a loaf of bread at the beginning.

Obviously this was mostly offensive "highlights" but geez the defense allowed a lot of big plays.

You have to think though in practice like this the offense is going a little more full bore than the defense. Don't want injuries if you can help it. Take the defensive looks with a grain of salt. I'm not worried since we know the defense is going to be flying to the ball and making plays all game long.

Marvin had a nice hit on Moore..These boys are playing football and it just feels so good to watch them and feel confident in them..i know its practice but the defense is getting to the ball with energy and the RBs are running hard and looking for contact..Denard makes mistakes but i always feel like he can make a huge play..Just from this clip i feel like they have come so far from "The Perfect Storm"

Denard: seems more poised. Throws we're crisp

Devin: like how he stands tall in the pocket. He will be a good segue to Shane.

Fitz: he's legit. Just needs to stay healthy

Bwc: I'm less worried everyday, not by a ton, but small increments

Agree.  Denard was getting his feet under him before throwing, even on that crazy backfield scramble, set his feet and threw a dart.

As much fun as the arm-punt was last year, hopefully we won't see that play called as much for 2012-13.

Don't be that guy.

Saying "something something much?" What a douchey response.

And was it not a great defensive play?

So when virtually the same thing happened to Denard at the end of the MSU game last year was I supposed to say "FAIL lolz?"

Also, I don't see how it was a "fail"...it was a good defensive play. A fail is Hagerup dropping the ball in the OSU game, or the random guy at the end of one of the scrimmage videos earlier this week who tries to get a chest (or back) bump and no one jumps with him and he looks like a fool. That's a fail.

Not a successful blitz.

Your post was a "FAIL lolz" if you ask me...

you're taking me way too seriously right now. My comments were meant to be taken much more lightheartedly than the way you're approaching them. Wasn't trying to start a fight or anything, just thought it was funny Bellomy got tackled right away. I don't need to be talked to like a fifth grade soccer fan.

moar spring practice videos pleeeease.  Thanks for posting this.  Clearly Fitz is #1 of course, but Rawls looks really strong, and quick for a stockier back.  Hayes looks promising as well.  Great stuff, especially given the MGoNEED for football right now.  Can't wait for the spring game.

If you look at :47, it's no wonder Bolden passed Mike Jones on the depth chart so quickly.

A few depth notes...

QWash in with the 1st team on Denard's sack...then back with the 2nd team the next play. And JT Floyd in with the 2nd team? Perhaps just a reward to Talbott for hard work.

Also saw heavy amounts of BWC with the 2nd team...but again, could just be the regular shifting of DL.

Jarrod Wilson in with the 1st team at about 1:10

Ricardo Miller in with the 1st team at points...shouldn't be surprise since Borges said he was the first team U-Back...just wondering how much they're going to implement him into the offense this season..

Frank Clark running with the 2nd team at 1:45, also features Beyer heavily with the 1st team...

Someone above mentioned MRob's big hit on Brandon Moore..that's actually Paskorz...but seriously, MRob up-ends him, and Paskorz has almost 50 pounds on him. Boom. Also, that throwing motion looked a bit more fluid from Gardner than we saw at times last year.

Denard and Devin looked crisp and composed (more so the former and as it should be). Never mind WR, i'm predicting that Devin will leave UM as one of its all-time great QBs. His knowledge of Borges's system will be excellent; he'll be more comfortable under center than Denard (maybe ever can be); he's got a cannon; and the legs to keep designed runs as well as punish an aggresive pass rush.

It's likely that he is the perfect player to transition from a recruited mostly for the spread team to Borges's vision of the future.

Do NOT like Denard holding that ball out as he scrambles around. Recipe for disaster. Tuck it away.

Other than that, I take very little away from that video except for excitement in anticipation for the season to begin.

@ 51 seconds T. Rawls looks like a straight beast even running thru BWC like wet tissue among others. Next play... BIG WILL'S REVENGE! Love the energy the whole team is displaying this spring!
