Trent Dilfer's career stats:

113 starts (58-55)
70.2 QB rating
55.5% Comp. pct.
158 Yds/gm
113 TD : 129 INT

I hope that Shane learns nothing from this guy about how to play qb.

I have argued that Trent Dilfer is a better qb than Dan Marino though based on the only stat that matters, rings.

When I have made this argument I was being completely facetious, just making sure no one here takes me too seriously.

Yes, the two things he did right were signing with the Ravens and not throwing it enough to lose it for his team.

You must be under the age of 18 if you're trying to defend Dilfer's abilities as a QB.  He was a below average NFL starter that Brian Billick knew could come in and hand the ball off and not throw it to the other team too much.

If you want to knock his coaching skills you need to use some other evidence than his career stats.  Any QB that plays at that level knows a hell of a lot about football and the position specifically.  Also, how did Jon Gruden do as a QB?  Everyone seems to like his QB interviews and analysis on ESPN.  WHat about Bill Belichick?  Walsh - the father of the west coast offense?  How was Jim Harbaugh's NFL career?

on the basis of coach's credentials. The greatest coaches are often the worst player because they teach you not to be like them cuz they suck.

More often than not, great players would often be a bad coach because of the unrealistic expectations or view on how a position should be played.  Michael Jordan would be a terrible coach because he unrealistically expects a lot out of the players for example.

I like Trent Dilfer especially when he evaluate QBs because he actually watches films instead of spewing out crap like Skip Bayless or Stephen A. Smith.

I didnt understand what the brother of Carson Palmer was trying to say about Shane, but his eyes were bloodshot, glossy and made no sense what so ever... then to see Dilfer toying around with on day 2... what a bunch of jokers. either way we have a competitor coming to UofM... not to mention someone that can do the "Bernie" pretty damn well!

17, 18? Perspective and humility aren't at their strength at that age...he's involved in a competition designed to thrust them  into the limelight and create a gilded path to the NFL, So the kid is proud his dad was an NFL coach and namedrops it...that's...pretty much what kids do.

Ok, Shane looks great, needs a bit of coaching, as all highschool football players do, but has so many things you can not teach that im super excited to have him and would not want any other qb in the class, 5 stars or otherwise.

That being said, Who is this narrator? his voice is epic.

I don't really put any stock into this thing, especially after learning how little they actually get to throw at the camp, but it strikes me as pretty odd that they preached consistency the whole time rather than highlight reel plays and then gave it to Woulard based on his final 2 minute drill.  He missed almost every pass and then threw a bullet when he had to.  Not really what I would call consistent.

They are looking for as many feel good and underdog stories as they can now that it is televised.  They keep throwing in guys who every FBS college has passed on (last two years)

In the final two-minute drill part, Woulard went from #5 to MVP after getting sacked, throwing back-to-back (what should have been) interceptions, and then throws a TD on a crossing route on 4th and 15 and somehow that warrants him jumping Browne, Hackenberg, and whoever else was in front of him.

Don't put too much stock in this. Shane's got things to work on like any other qb, but he's got all the intangibles that you can't teach. He'll be just fine when he gets here.

This thread brings up my 2 pet peaves that make my blood boil, and i have been in heated arguments with my jaw dropping over how much of an idiot the other person is....

1st pet peave, gauging an NFL player on how good he is based on the amount of rings he has.  GRRRRRR!!!!  Dan Marino could not play left tackle to block for himself, or WR to get open and actually catch his passes.  Moreso, he could not play MLB and actually stop the other team from scroring.  This is much more true in football, where a player only plays one side of the ball, and is only 1 of 22 starters.  In basketball, guaging success by rings is more viable, because you are 1 of 5 starters, not 1 of 22 starters (bball players have to blay both offense AND defense, and have MUCH more control over the outcome of a game).  A dude i work with vehemently beleives Barry Sanders and Dan Marino are losers, arent even top 20 at their position, because they never willed their team to a championship.  They werent good enough.  Troy Aikman is the best ever.

2nd pet peave, Joe Lewis sucks, he would get owned by Vladimir Klitchko and Lennox Lewis.  Knocked out in first round. He is no where near the best of all time......

OF COURSE HE WOULD GET OWNED!!!  The 100th ranked heaveyweight right now would smoke Joe Lewis, and the 50th rated would beat Ali.  YOU CANNOT COMPARE ATHLETES WITH EACH OTHER WHEN THEY TOOK PART IN DIFFERENT ERAS!!!  You have to compare them against what they did against the competition of their time. Hardly anyone professional played back in the day because the money was not there, combined with the rigourous training nowadays, performance enhancing substances, full day trainers etc....

Sorry for the rant, but this thread just gave me some flashbacks.  I feel like im in veitnam all over again.

My impression is that it has been turned into another stupid assed reality TV show.  They build up the drama with all the interveiws between each day's drills, and I sort of knew where it was headed because they kept interviewing the SAME GUYS.

At one point I was sure they were going to give out roses to show who was still in the running.
