You can't fake that kind of poise. He is definitely more mature than last year and I would say he's probably up there with dare I say it... Tom Brady? Here's my rationale... If you look at some of the great QBs we've had in the past, guys like Henne and Navarre and even Tate, they seemed to lack something in a leadership quality. For Navarre, I think it was confidence. With Henne, I think it was being a vocal leader and a bit of fire. With Tate, it was too much ego and not enough maturity and discipline. They all had skills and physical tools, but Devin seems to encompass everything you want in a starting QB. Should be fun to watch him apply it to the field.

I thought he was very comfortable in interviews last year. After only his second start, he was cracking jokes ("That's neither here nor there" about whether the pass to Roundtree was an overthrow or not).

Seems to be quite intelligent and has a good memory for different plays and his execution. Really hoping he can fully master the Al Borges playbook and get this offense to fire on all cylinders this season.

Also hoping Gordon can step up his trash talk game, the leader of the defense needs to keep his QB in check.

I'm looking more for Borges to master what makes sense in the 2013 college football world than I am for Gardner to master what he's told to do. The report of him studying how Kaepernick and RG3 were used last year is an encouraging start.

Every interview I see Devin do makes me love him that much more. If he performs like he is he has the potential to, I can see a #12 Legend's jersey in the future...

maybe because the only other time I've really ever heard him speak is when he was younger / an underclassman and maybe a bit more reserved. He's been impressing me in these little preseason videos

Damn, we are very fortunate to have another charismatic QB ready to step in to the starter's role. And the fact he seems to more well suited for the offense that Hoke wants to run makes me think he's destined for his own greatness.

You couldn't really ask for a better "face of the program" at least on the player level than DG. He seems like a hard worker and genuinely good dude. Was a 5 star who paid his dues and now it's his time to run the team.

1. 65 Waggle: "...and our TE wasn't as stout as I thought he would be and I just stepped up calmly against MN, he whiffed, he missed me and I made the pass, he got up and hit me and I felt like that was a pretty good deal."

Just look at the characters we have at quarterback. We all know Denard and his shining personality, Devin is funny and seems like a great kid, and Shane has dat SWAG! I'll take the character of Hoke recruits over most of the SEC recruits any day.

He only recruited Shane out of the 3 I named, but I would think coaching these players for a couple years would mean that he has had a strong impact on their character and how they handle themselves. Also I wasn't clear. The second part of my comment was directed towards the team as a whole, because it really seems like we have some really quality people.

Gardner is a very good interviewee. My favorite line is when he says that were make your money, referring to a play during the Minnesota game.

I believe that Devin will establish himself as one of the better (top 10) UM QB's of all time in the next two seasons, and it will be that much more amazing because he will do it without any big-time WRs.

He will not be drafted later than round two of the 2015 NFL draft.
