Denard Robinson's words and actions everyday make me proud to be a Michigan Wolverine.
well that's just, like, your opinion, man
Denard Robinson's words and actions everyday make me proud to be a Michigan Wolverine.
Exactly, I was trying to explain why I was so worried about losing Denard to a non-football fan. It basically came down to the fact that he's just an affable, damn good kid. Contrast with Pryor and you'll feel even better.
Denard is made of dilithium and magical bits. Pryor is made of detritus and cigarette butts.
You can't forget the tattoos
It's good to hear it straight from his mouth.
Testament to RR and his staff that put all these kids together and enforced the family atmosphere. What a great job they did recruiting Denard and all of the players. I hope Hoke can continue the momentum!
And Denard's parents are amazing people.
I want to posbang Denard.
nary the twain shall ever meet!
It wasn't meant to be creepy, I just did it fast and it came out that way. It depicts Denard's healthy glow of pure awsumness.
I also want to bang Denard. Wait, what?
Don't deny it... you really do..
that is all..he had me at hike
Denard is my hero
... is going to go down in the pantheon of truly legendary Michigan players. His name will be mentioned with the Charles Woodsons, Desmond Howards, Anthony Carters, Mike Harts, etc.
I couldn't ask for a better young man to lead this team. His parents did one helluva of a job with him.
Brady Hoke is a lucky man.
You just don't find many kids as special as this one. Many have the talent, many have the charisma, and many have the character. Few have them all, this one does!
What an amazing example to his peers at the many young men that will look up to him in future years as a face of the Michigan Wolverines.
Sounds like we need someone like him to recruit. Million dollar smile.
Also - sounds like his dad is a very rational and motivating man. Maybe he should coach too!
What does this tell you about Mallett's transfer when RR took over as opposed to Denard's staying when Hoke took over? Someone seems to have done a fine job of teaching team to Denard.......
Lets all just take a minute and recognize how blessed we are to have a uniquely talented player who has the character to match. If there is anyone who can restore the phrase "Michigan Man", it is Mr. Robinson.
the stylish asian man with the knee pads, fanny pack, multiple cameras, wrinkled maze shirt, carabiner in case he needs to recline down Michigan stadium, warmup pants, and a fedora with matching maze stripe that would make Nathan Detroit jealous makes me very very happy.
I've seen this pic many times - how could one miss the 최고-awesomeness of this fine gentleman?
Much laughter is given to me.
He is my new Lloyd Brady. I will look for him every time the sidelines or endzone are shown. There is a great comfort knowing that he will be there. Always prepared. Delighting in anticipation of shooting Denard's next great play.
Asian camera man prepared for the apocalypse, I salute you.
That'd be Tony Ding, former Michigan Daily photographer and all-around awesome guy. He took the iconic photo of Tate directing downfield receivers before throwing a TD pass in the Notre Dame game in 2009. You can check out his website for more of his stuff, he does some amazing work: http://tonyding.photoshelter.com/ (Edited to include current website)
Edit edit: here's the Tate photo that was everywhere after the win, although I'm sure you've seen many others from Tony since he often covers Michigan games:
"Seconds later, Doug Karsch and an unidentified photographer spontaneously combusted after attempting to catch up with Denard Robinson. An investigation is pending."
All three of our Heisman Trophy winners were not recruited by the coach they played for in their Heisman season:
Tom Harmon was recruited by Harry Kipke, but won the Heisman under Fritz Crisler.
Desmond Howard was recruited by Bo Schembechler, but won the Heisman under Gary Moeller.
Charles Woodson was recruited by Moeller, but won the Heisman under Lloyd Carr.
Can it happen again? Rich Rodriguez's greatest legacy to this school may prove to be the recruitment of Denard.
And we've still got Gardner waiting in the wings as well.
This will be added to that part of the brain devoted entirely to useless trivia.
This may be my favorite fun fact of the day. Well done.
If this kid can show the kind of fortitude, trust, and commitment to his teammates and this new staff, then I think we as fans should be able to do the same....
Denard is quickly becoming my all-time favorite Wolverine. I love me some Braylon, Charles, Desmond, etc, but Denard probably takes the cake.
I have cooled off on Braylon as one of my favorite Wolverines ever since he became a douche about hiring RR.
Denard is officially my favorite Wolverine of all time. His talent, humbleness, and leadership amazes me for someone that can't legally drink alcohol. How can you not love to cheer for this guy?
All he does is slander.
His talent, humbleness, and leadership amazes me for someone that can't legally drink alcohol.
I'm not too sure alcohol enhances those qualities, frankly.
Those who stay will be Champions
One of the things that's keeping me positive right now is the fact that he was a first year starter (!) this past season...it seems like that has been lost in all the chaos. There are even bigger things in store for #16 and the Michigan offense. Players do get better, and, well, he's already kind of good.
That is all.
I'm glad to see he is staying. Give Michigan even an average defense next year, and with the offensive talent, they can make big strides!!
blood pressure has dropped significantly! This makes me very happy.
It seems any smart high school player should see what we see and want to play wiht Denard. I wish we could find a way to better publicize him nationally to get recruits. Who wouldn't want to play on the team of a future superstar / Heisman winner (I hope).
Winning games will give us all the publicity we need. Remember when nearly all the national pundits were saying to give the Heisman to DR when we were 5-0?
I would think having Denard could help in getting some offensive weapons (skill players). I think at this point Hoke is focusing on O/D Line and getting someone who can make a field goal.
You don't need to ask Denard what happens to those who stay. He is a top-flight Michigan Man and a true leader.
Living in West Quad last year, my sophomore year and Denard's freshman year, meeting him was one of the highlights of my year. I've never met a more kind and humble person, especially one with the level of superstardom he has - and the amount he is still sure to attain. Actually, last season and this season, me and my roommates and a couple other people brought shoelaces to all the football games and swung them around in the air whenever Denard was in the game, as a way of showing support. Obviously, we didn't get much use out of them in 2009, but this past year it was outstanding to see someone that I actually had a few conversations with excel out on the field. This man makes me proud to be a Michigan Wolverine.
Will improve Denard's skills as a pocket passer (which he already excels at) and also teach him how scramble with your eyes downfield. Denard will still put up monster stats in all catagories, but this year you won't see as many QB Iso, QB sweep, & QB draw plays. Spreading the ball around will just make this offense even more dangerous.
Considering how thin our QB depth may be this year, it will also be good to have not have to miss any time in games with those nicks he gets.
Denard has a very strong arm, but that strength has also enabled him to keep some bad habits - like throwing completely off his back foot without stepping into the throw towards the receiver. He has some mechanics stuff to work on with the right coach, but that will only make him a more dangerous QB. I have no doubt he will embrace the teaching and work beyond overtime in the offseason to improve.
He took quite a few shots this year while standing in the pocket - and never backed away from any charging defender. Always seemed to get the pass off just in the nick of time, and still stood there and took the shot. IMO he will be even more exciting to watch this year and next with whatever offense they create just for his skills.
Once he learns to see the entire field and check off on his receivers, he will be unstoppable. A hybrid-pro set will only help him.
Can't friggin' wait!
Mich·i·gan Man [mish-i-guhn man]
you left out the 'eeeee'
This helps us out in innumerable ways. Seriously, what is there NOT to like about this guy?
I love you, Michigan MAN!!! I might have to rename my son.... His middle name is "Brady" after another great UM QB. How does Denard Brady sound? GO BLUE!
Never in the process did I hear Denard himself say/write that he was truly considering leaving. All of the conversation about it was coming from people that may have some connection to Denard. It was just never actually him. So I never really thought he was gone.
We can do wonderful things with this guy, in a variety of offensive schemes.
Robinson will most likely end up as my favorite Wolverine of all time.
He is one of my favorite players to ever wear the uniform. The guy is class.
I really hope he gets a chance to compete for a Big10 championship but if not, he is already a Champion. He is a true Michigan man and we will all be very proud of him for many years no matter what he does after school.
Denard's father is a very wise man.
