I knew Kain Colter was fast but I was floored when he schooled Jake Ryan at the 40 second mark. Ryan would have done better if he had not gotten caught flat footed but still dang. Had some other really nice runs where he made the Michigan tacklers look slow.

Glad we got out of that with a win and thanks for posting!

Although the defense has improved tremendously under Greg Mattison the past two years, this game perfectly illustrated the lack of speed and athleticism we have on the perimeter and linebacker position right now.  The talent level that we have coming in the next few years will make a big difference and we have a chance to have a scary good defense against both the run and the pass.

"This is not good" boil down my thoughts as well.  The problems on the edge have been an issue for a long time now.  But I was just as impressed with Kolter as Mattison was.  He's a hell of a spread QB, and made really good decisions throughout the game.  Then when Seimian came in, he was making some ridiculous throws.  I think this game is a "tip of the hat" to NW's offense more than a complete failure by our defense.  The defense could've played better of course.  But the NW offense played well, especially on third down.

It wasn't greatest performance by the defense but they made key stops when they needed too though.  I thought James Ross the frosh played a really good game for us.   The only missing every snap video I notice was Minny game defense especially the way Jake Ryan played that game.
