Charges are not expected to be filed against Hyde after video from Sugar Bar 2 shows he didn't appear to make contact with an alleged victim who claimed to have been assaulted early Saturday morning, a source who spoke to Yahoo! Sports on the condition of anonymity said. The source said video shows Hyde speaking in the direction of the alleged victim just prior to her punching him in the head. The video then shows Hyde leaving the area and reaching back in the woman's direction in a non-confrontational manner, the source said. From the video, it doesn't appear Hyde ever made contact with the woman – either before or after she struck him, the source said.

I don't care for Hyde, but it's nice to see this come about so quickly. So many times when a person is innocent, there is such a long prior of blame that the issue is all but forgotten by the time the truth comes out. Thus leaving hi bane ruined.

How can we be sure this video is really from the other night?  You don't think video can be forged?  I saw "Capricorn One".  I saw "Wag the Dog".  Now this little snippet of video conveniently pops up?  That Urban Meyer, he's a crafty little devil, that one.

CCTV to the rescue.  It cuts both ways sometimes....can prove the crime or exonorate the suspect.  Props to OSU for only having 5 guys busted last weekend and not 6.

Twelve hours later, not a single major news organization -- Columbus Dispatch, ESPN -- has seconded the Yahoo report (which is based on an anonymous "sources". So just as people jumped the gun on Hyde's guilt, perhaps they're jumping the gun on his innocence. At this point, who knows what the truth is? But this doesn't stop people from drawing huge conclusions without all the evidence.

Brett McMurphy from ESPN tweeted that his sources told him that the video shows that Carlos did not do anything wrong. He actually tweeted that Monday night before the Yahoo story. Gabe Spiegel, who used to do local news on TV but now works in Cleveland, has been tweeting all day that the Yahoo story is not 100% accurate but is mostly correct in that Hyde is not expected to be charged with anything. Unfortunately, the girl is on vacation out of the country and cannot be interviewed until she returns so it looks like this is going to drag out for the next week or so.

FWIW, the alleged victim in this case left the country on Sunday for vacation. Columbus police are saying they will release the video and any charges after they interview her upon her return. Apparently her absence has been what's keeping this thing from reaching a conclusion.

Then apologies are in order for Hyde.  Definitely an unfortunate situation for all involved, and does a disservice to all those women who are battered for a false claim like this to be made.

I seriously hope they charge her with both the assault and making a false report, which both seem to carry six months of jail time. Hyde would be well within his rights to sue as well.
