The video is from a long time ago too. I saw him at the Delaware State game in a wheelchair and was curious about his recovery process. Hopefully he can watch his brother play on his own two feet one day.

be able to walk out with Elliot on Senior Day at the Big House.Obviously, I hope Brock can walk sooner than that, but to see them walking together on the field in AA on Senior Day would bring a tear to the eye of even the most jaded soul and be a very special moment for the UM football family.

Yeah, RR's program lacks family values alright. Only at a program completely lacking in a sense of family would a strength and conditioning coach help with the rehabilitation of a player's injured brother. Fuck Boren.

I don't mean to be contrarian here, but I think a lot of programs would do that sort of thing. It is a great thing that the team and the staff have rallied around the Mealers, but there are a lot of good people in college football. I think a lot of strength and conditioning coordinators/staffs out there would help a player's paralyzed brother.

Wow does that look painful! Kid is busting his ass and taking names! Keep up the hard work Brock and whether you know it or not you are inspiring a lot of people. Good luck and God bless.

I get caught up in all this bullshit as much as anyone else, about Lane Kiffin, and the Free Press, and Dillon Baxter favorite-color-updates, etc.... And it makes me feel like crap when I watch this and am reminded what's real. Good on you, Brock.

i really am hoping to remember to do this but i want to bump this at least once a week just to remind people of this story and the success through adversity shown by this family, not just brock, in the light of such tragedy.

In one of the comments to an early video, someone asked what happened and redbaronman responded "My family was hit on Christmas Eve by a 92 year old driver." Obviously those videos are uploaded by Brock and the comments are seen by him. Show the kid some love.

Getting immersed in all the hoopla about the Kiffin episode, coming on top of the ugly situations at Texas Tech, Kansas, and USF, really leaves me feeling like I've stepped in a gigantic pile of dog shit. The strength and love and courage exhibited by Brock and Elliot, and the support of RR and his staff, is a truly cleansing antidote.

I can identify a LITTLE bit with Brock. I've had a number of surgeries to remove several tumors, most recently from inside my cervical spine. No paralysis or anything, but some muscle weakness, no sense of balance, and I lost my hearing (I have a device that gives me back some of it). It's all about what you want. Me, I hate, HATE being in the hospital. I knew they wouldn't let me out after my last surgery before I went for a walk. So, about 24 hours after my surgery, with my neck bigger than Mike Martin's biceps and my whole body exploding with pain if I didn't keep my head directly over my body, I hauled out of bed and went for about a hundred foot walk. (Then I got back to my room and slept so deeply for the next 12 hours that I wet the bed, but I digress). It's all about what you want. I wanted out of that hospital. Brock wants to be whole again. Dammit if he's not going to get it, too.

Genetic Disease. No such thing as better unless they make some gigantic strides in gene therapy. But hopefully, now that I'm well past the growth of the rest of my body, the tumors will stop growing much, too. They're not cancerous. They just pop up in inopportune places... like the brain and spinal cord.

Brock, you're an inspiration to everyone. I couldn't be more proud of you, and your brother, for never quitting and for the spirit, grace, dignity and hard work that you've displayed throughout your ordeal.

With Barwis working with him on his PT, he's going to skip normal human motion on his way to becoming Superman. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. I wonder how he's doing now? It's been about 8 months since his last video update in May.

But more awesome than 2 and 3, sliding in at 1.5, Brock Mealer has posted among his favorite YouTube videos the Rosenberg Downfall Parody. That settles it. The Mealer family has just become my favorite family. I am going to find Ty and those guys from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition now to build them an awesome Mealer Mansion.
