That was a fantastic game to be in attendance for. When Michigan came out of the tunnel, I knew they weren't losing.

Seems like such a long, long time ago, though...

2011 was great, of course, but didn't hold a candle to this.

I was there too, and will never forget the game.  Chris Perry was amazing.  He was clearly playing with an injury, and had to come off the field at one point.  The OSU players started jawing at him and he stopped, turned around, and told them he'd be back.

He came back and ran them to death, rushing 31 times for 154 yards and two TDs.  He also caught 5 passes for 55 yards.  OSU averaged 2.2 yards/carry that day, but Jenkins and Santonio Holmes kept them in the game until Perry put the nail in the coffin half-way through the fourth quarter.

It was an amazing game, and we need more like it.

I remember now, but I had forgotten until I watched the first few minutes of this video, just how early in the game we lost Avant. But I really, really think the offense rallied around that loss.

And yeah...CP was a monster that day.

That's because it was a long, long time ago. In fact, this game was the last time Michigan won a rivalry game over a team that finished with a strong record outside of Notre Dame's fraudulent squad in 2006 (which feasted on a dreadful schedule to go 10-1 before being further exposed in blowout losses to USC and LSU).

Think about that for a minute. We are talking about 11 years of not beating a rival who wasn't mediocre or crap. And we have three of them!

First time I ever saw Michigan beat ohio. I remember three things vividly: the long Perry TD run, the INT to clinch and fans rushing the field.

I was in 2nd grade. 11-26-11 is a date I'll never forget because that was truly the first time for me since I was old enough to remember it.

The first football game after my daughter was born was supposed to be a special event.  Instead, it was App State.  UofM football has been horrible her entire time on this planet.

Some days I think I need a priest and some holy water to try and remedy this situation.

The worst part is that there are no signs of anything getting better.

Yeah, Michigan signed a good HS player. They've supposedly been doing that for years. And we've gotten 0 championships out of it in going on 10 years.

Recruiting rankings from Rivals:

2010-20th (zero 5 stars)

2011-21st (zero 5 stars)

2012-7th (two 5 stars)

2013-5th (one 5 star)

Until Hoke came in our recruting rankings were starting to slip (epsecially compared to OSU). Our defense was beyond garbage and we are still recovering from switching back and forth from Pro Style to Spread to Pro Style. This is what happens when you decide to make a drastic change and it doesn't pan out. Everyone knows what the problems were (O-line recruiting in particular) but lets wait and see what happens this year before we start firing another coach. There's no excuses this season, the defense is stacked and we have one of the best coordinators in the country. Winning cures everything!

as a product of the 90s (born in 84) I remember not even getting nervous before playing osu/msu/nd. When we did lose it wasn't the end of the world. I just went "well, that's their one win every 3 years". 2001-Now is like a bizzaro world. Kids truly have no idea what it was like to be MICHIGAN. It's sad.

Now we know the real reason Devotee didn't have a prom date.  Busted!

A 5th grader trying to get a prom date, while it might work in the movies, would pose a problem in so many ways in real life.  But I gotta hand it to you, Devo, you pulled it off on MGoBlog a lot better and a lot longer than RDT did.

And your computer skills, U of M historical knowledge, ability to post all hours of the day and night----even more impressive, in light of this revelation!

It's still fascinating to me that, at the point of this game, I was engaged by not yet married and had neither kids nor a house, and by the time Michigan would beat Ohio State again, I would be married and have two kids and a house. A lot happened in those intervening years indeed.

In any case, this was a wonderful game - I think Braylon and Chris Perry had the brunt of the offensive yards in this one and accounted together for four of the five TDs as well.

@jswavel34

well done sir. Love, love, love the local radio with the national video.

Have you heard of Grass Valley Edius Pro 7? (http://www.grassvalley.com/products/edius_pro_7)

Local guy I work with has mastered it, using HD video footage from the recent (2011+ forward games). It's a bit expensive, but I think we could get a Kickstarter going to get this funded. I'd throw $100 in.

What software are presently using now for edits? Have you done a game with HD video and local radio?

This was actually from the DVD that was sold by the University back in the day (and as far as I can tell it's no longer for sale) that already had the Beckmann/Brandstatter color and the video footage from Michigan's in-house cameras that was shown on the big screen during the game. So I didn't have to pair the audio/video as it was already done for me.

But I use PowerDirector for my hype vids. I haven't done a full game but it's pretty easy to pair audio and video. Naturally I'll lose some video quality when I "re-produce" the original HD video files and add in the audio.

I've attended every Michigan-OSU game in Ann Arbor since 2001, and I've only seen one more W in person than you have. I've certainly seen a couple 'should-have-wins'. Last year was one, but for some reason, that one didn't stick in my craw like the 2005 game still does. Argh. 2005. Just typing the year pisses me off.

I'd probably sit through the 2005 game again 99 times out of 100 as compared to having to sit through the 2007 game. I think that was just the most miserable UM-OSU game I've ever seen (or been to), and that, obviously, precludes the RichRod years.

Everyone was hurt going into the game (I think Henne's shoulder was attached with a rubber band), and we ended up with less than 100 total yards of offense on the day. The weather absolutely sucked ass, too. I think Beanie himself accounted for 90-95% of OSU's total offensive yards -- and that's no exaggeration.

Yep, I was in Junior High and High School during the Cooper years and it was glorious. It seemed like every year, I never had to worry about UM beating OSU during that time cause they ALWAYS found a way to do it.

Man, those were the days. Just to echo what others have said, I vividly remember Chris Perry's TD run. Growing up, it felt like Chris Perry was at Michigan for a decade.

I usually only lurk but had to comment on this one.

I'll never forget this day. Played and won a football game of my own that kicked off at nearly the same time. Was MI highschool Div 4 state semifinals game. We won. Went on later to win the finals the last year the highschool finals were played in the Silverdome. Was also my 18th birthday.

I didn't see the game obviously but I didn't think it would take so long to see the next W. I remember sitting in the locker room after the game and shortly after hearing that M had won and thinking to myself "I'll never forget this day" and I haven't.

Wow I forgot Braylon could have easily had over 200 yards and 3 TD's if not for a 85 yard TD being called back in the third quarter. The TD would have made it a 35-7 runaway.

Say what you want about Braylon Edwards, but he was an absolute freak on the field. I feel like a 12 year old all over again after watching these replays.

The only music I heard was from the marching bands. Amazingly enough, the fans seemed to have a good time without "Seven Nation Army."

the last happy moments of Michigan football.

Everything after was nothing but doubting the leadership and direction of Michigan Football.  Save for two brief moments of excitement.  It really has been an awfull 10 years.

Yeah, they won the Big Ten.

But they didn't beat ohio. And when you lose to ohio, that diminishes the title.

1931, 1972, 1974, 1982, 1998, 2004. All those years, they won the Big Ten but....

And they damn well should've beaten ohio in 2004. They were shit that year. They found themselves playing in the Alamo Bowl that year.

That 2003 game is still one of my all time favorite memories at Michigan Stadium.  The whole feeling in the stadium that day was incredible.  From the line of former Wolverines making a human tunnel for the players to run through, to Gerald Ford delivering a message on the Video board.  The score was closer than the game was.  Michigan just imposed thier will on them that day.  Just wish that one long Braylon touchdown was not called back.
