Very OT: Want to help kids get a new playground?

I know this is extremely off-topic, but I know the MGoCommunity is a fair and kind one and is always willing to help...

If you have a spare minute today and have the ability to text from your cell phone, I’m asking that you – just this once today – text 925pbf to the number 95248.

A great friend of mine is trying to help kids in a poverty-stricken community in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania get a new, safe playground. Theirs is in disrepair and the community doesn’t have the funds to pay for it. Your text is a vote to Clorox’s national “Power a Bright Future” contest.

There are no additional charges for your text and you won’t get any spam texts or calls in return. If you can help, I’d really appreciate it...and I’m sure the kids would too, especially during the holiday season. They’re in 4th place at the moment and today’s the last day to vote!

Here’s a link if you wish to vote online instead of by text: https://powerabrightfuture.clorox.com/nominees/detail/?nid=925

Many thanks!

"That's tremendous, Jim."

really still people that pay for texting on an individual basis? I can't comprehend keeping track of the number of text I send and receive in a given mouth.

If an OSU fan divorces his wife are they still brother and sister?

I knocked my unlimited txt plan down to a 1500 txt plan. I have an iPhone and since iPhone to iPhone messages are part of the data plan, none of the messages I send to somone with an iPhone count against 1500.

I haven't come close to 1500. Saves me $5 a month. If there was an option to go down to 1000, I'd take it. But AT&T, knowing that people are on to them with Data "texting" no longer offer another option.

I text plenty, but my bill says I'm only around 200 texts a month because the iPhone-to-iPhone texts aren't counted.

Bethlehem, PA has a very interesting history for those Industrial Age fanatics:

"Bethlehem became a center of heavy industry and trade during the industrial revolution. The Bethlehem Steel Corporation (1857–2003), founded and based in Bethlehem, was once the second-largest steel producer in the United States, after Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based U.S. Steel. Bethlehem Steel was also one of the largest shipbuilding companies in the world and one of the most powerful symbols of American industrial manufacturing leadership.

Bethlehem Steel began producing the first wide-flange structural shapes made in the United States and they pioneered the production of the now-ubiquitous "I-beam" used in construction of steel-framed buildings, including skyscrapers. It manufactured construction materials for numerous New York and other city skyscrapers, as well as for major bridges.

The company became a major supplier of armor plate and ordnance products during World War I and World War II, including the manufacture of 1,100 warships. After roughly 140 years of metal production at its Bethlehem plant, Bethlehem Steel ceased operations there in 1995. Overseas competition and declining demand had ended the business."
