Definitely not sanctioned by the University since the page lists a Gmail email address.

Pretty cool idea, though. Random anonymous shoutouts can be hilarious.

Anyone remember the site "juicycampus.com" that circulated around 2009, in which each college/university had their own page to "gossip" and discuss whatever they want completely annoymously? Things got pretty out of control on that site. Terrible things were written about students and professors on that site, yet it was addicting to read.   It was shut down due to lack of ad revenue.

This is hilarious.  A more popular page for law students would be one that posted anonymous complaints rather than compliments.  Mine would have been:

Hey, a--hole in the first row:  Stop asking questions about the case that no one else has read so we can move on!  Testing is anonymous so the sh-t on your nose is worthless sh-t.

You sorts can be very useful in classes where there is not a set amount of material to cover. If we are just supposed to be figuring out how to find our way through the literature in some area, it's great, and a lot less work, to have a student who will reliably ask reasonable questions that generate productive exchanges.

... and an attempt to minimize some of the more extreme forms of competition that can arrise from grouping so many type A personalities in the same room.

Yeah, not the most manball of facebook pages, but I've seen worse initiatives.

I bunch of schools have pages like this. I think Yale or Columbia undergrad was the first.

Edit: according to Michigan law's page, it was actually Queen's University in Canada.

From some other school's pages Queen's University is also cited as the one to come up with the idea. I've seen a page at Boston College, where the also have "Boston College Negative Comments" and by far my favorite, "Boston College Neutral Comments"

not sure why Matt Hinton thinks this is a 'sad testament' to anything.  some people just can't handle the manliness of saying how you feel.  what are you afraid of, Matty?  are you threatened by warm fuzzies?  real men tell you when you're being a damn shame, and real men likewise tell you when you're straight awesome on the rocks.

Michael Scott (talking about Pam) - "I would never say this to her face, but she's a wonderful person and a gifted artist."

Oscar Martinez - "Why wouldn't you say that to her face?"

As a current Michigan law student, I know some people are using this completely sarcastically to actually talk shit about people.  Which I don't mind.

I actually think this is a great thing.  It may very well be the opposite of MANBALL, but the fear that some guys have about talking honestly about their feelings or being nice and complimentary to others is absolutely ridiculous.
