Anyone see it?
They completely tossed the 'Hangover' formula and tried to come up with a new concept. It didn't work.
I won't put plot spoilers here in the OP, but I will say that it's not really a comedy. It's some sort of action/triller ala 'Speed' with comedians in it.
I never make movie related threads, but obviously this is a popular franchise and I'm sure many MGoBloggers are planning to see it this weekend. My advice, don't.
Arguably the worst move I've ever seen in my entire life. I thought the 1st one was legendary. I thought the 2nd one was "meh" because it took the 1st one and sprinkled it with steriods.
#3 doesn't do either, but the producers, directors and writers completely missed the boat on what made The Hangover so great.
It's the same thing that made American Pie good for young folks (and some older) in it's day. The same thing that even made Project X surprisingly watchable...there are "demon" in all of us, and a dark side that if we could have one night to fuck-shit-up...we'd want it to be like that (Hangover 1).
Hangover 2 wasn't "meh" because it was pretty much the same movie, it was "meh" because no one wants to wake up in a shit motel with a tattoo on their face. No one wants to watch a monkey play with a little Asian mans penis. No one wants to have a transgender prostitute ejaculate into them. While it may have been funny, they lost the "DAMN! THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!" that they had in Hangover 1.
The same goes with the finale. You don't even sorta-kinda envy those guys anymore...you just want it to end.
A shame, because I thought the first Hangover was awesome. They could've made a GREAT trilogy. Instead they forgot the one thing that made #1 special and the last two suffered.
Many of you still will, but with as much as movies cost these days, there's no way I'd spend money on Hangover Part 3.
