very OT: Batman V Superman, high resolution picture of Ben Affleck in suit

Submitted by Achilles on

I'm sorry if this is not worthy of a board post, but I know there are fellow comic book/movie fans here. Here is a high resolution picture of Ben Affleck in the suit that was just leaked. I think he looks great, the movie will be great, and they did a great job of sticking to the source material. Great.

I'm sure with the dark tone/lighting of the movie the costume will look better, but in normal lighting, it just looks off...

I get they're going for the OG Batman costume with the short ears and big bat logo. It just seems weird, since it hasn't been done since Adam West.

...growing up I preferred DC comics over Marvel...but man Marvel has owned DC. I thought Superman sucked and looked like a bad video game. That said I am hopeful that Suicide Squad will be cool.

Opinions and assholes or something but there isn't a single Marvel series that can stand toe to toe with all 3 Batman movies. Avengers, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America none of them. The Batman Trilogy consists of very well-written movies with pretty good acting, great in some parts, that didn't rely on special effects or super hero nostalgia as driving forces. Assholes, I know, we all poop out of them.

The first one was an excellent, beautiful film. I actually prefer it to the 2nd. It stood on filmmaking chops rather than the violence you expect is all you'll get from a superhero film. Now, the second developed the theme brilliantly with many nuanced levels of meaning, but those are the best features of a Nolan film.

It's funny b/c if you were to rank the superheroes of the DC and Marvel universes, then it would kinda mimic how the movies are with DC ranked at 1 followed by a ton of Marvel movies then DC bringing up the rear.

1. Superman

2. Batman

by a lot

3-7. Marvel

8. Wonder Woman

9-13. Marvel

14. Green Lantern

15-20. Marvel

21. Aquaman

I know it's kinda exaggerated, but you get the gist. I personally like DC's universe better, but in terms of average fan popularity I would say this might be fairly accurate.

The Dark Knight Trilogy may have had "better" movies but I had way more fun watching The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and most of the Iron Man films.

I guess I just prefer my superhero movies not to take themselves TOO seriously. DC seems to want to do everything dark and gritty, and while TDK sort of kicked off that trend, it's overdone now.

I give the first one an A, the second an A+, and the third a B. There were a lot of problems with the third one, especially when compared to the first two, in both a technical and story aspect.

I may give the 3rd one a B+...I remember when I first saw it, it would've been firmly in the B spot, but for some reason I remember watching it again recently and being like "hmmm, this was a touch better than I remember."

IMO, Dark Knight is one of the best action/superhero movies ever made. I'm too lazy to make a list and I hate comparing great things...but if someone called it the greatest, I wouldn't disagree.

Maybe I'm just way too used to Bale's single colored armor suit, but the grey and black looks odd to me. Not bad, just odd. I know that's how it's supposed to be in the comics anyway, but this will take some getting used to.

Bad actors? Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter are bad actors? This is isn't Ben Affleck form Gigli. Have you seen Gone Baby Gone, Argo, or the Town? Say what you want about Jesse Eisenberg to, but the man was nominated for an Oscar. What a stupid unintelligent comment....

Holly Hunter had The Piano and a bunch of "meh" roles. Henry Cavill is very good, but hasn't done much other than superhero roles lately it seems.

Ben Affleck is just overrated. He reminds me of George Clooney because he seems to play the same character over and over regardless of the movie or the role.

I will with hold judgement until I see the film but nothing they've released so far has inspired confidence. I lowered my expectations ever since the cast Afleck. Nothing against him, I actually like Ben Afleck but he can't be Batman. I got a feeling this is going to be Clooney 2.0.

This movie looks terrible. I'll say it again copyright laws need to be changed so studios aren't "forced" to put out reboots of the same movie over and over again to hold on to the rights.

Man, people are so down on this movie already and I don't quite get it. With as much as I've seen it could be sweet or terrible. Pretty hard to tell from just the trailer.
