VCU to A-10 from Colonial
Title says it all- VCU to A-10 for 2012-2013 year.
I like that they will be with Richmond- will become a pretty big game every year!
As a Dayton alum, I love what the A-10 has done this spring in adding Butler and VCU. Yes it hurts to lose Temple, but I think they've done all they can to backfill.
Butler + VCU > Temple
Exciting up and coming programs that pair up well in the conference are great gets for the A-10- it's becoming a very very decent BB conference.
A10. The NEW Big East.
I have no idea who's where anymore with the lesser (as far as football goes) conferences. The B1G, P12 and SEC still make geographic sense, at least.
I don't see how Mizzou in the SEC makes much geographic sense. Missouri has always been thought of as a midwestern state. The only reason the SEC added Mizzou is because they had to add someone to go along with Texas A&M. I bet they're kicking themselves now that FSU is starting to looking around.
Well, Missouri was a slave state like the other SEC states. So there's that. Geographically it's only the third best fit for Mizzou, but it's not completely batshit.
If you believe the "it's all about TV viewers" argument, Mizzou is probably preferable to FSU. Mizzou brings a couple of relatively large markets in St. Louis & Kansas City, while the entire state of Florida has been exposed to the SEC for some time.
Mizzou may be close to St. Louis and Kansas City, but it's not a huge draw in those markets. And unlike FSU, Mizzou doesn't have a strong a national profile. Otherwise, the Big Ten would have added Mizzou instead of Nebraska (after all, how big of a TV market is Omaha?).
So the A10 can now claim half of the '10 Final Four participants..... interesting
So when do the non-football Big East teams -- Hoyas, De Paul, St Johns, etc. -- bolt for the A-10.
the a-10 may get 2 more schools
george mason and Creighton
yes i said crieghton ( to give st louis a closer rival)
you would be surprised how much creighton spends on their basketball program and they fill that 15000 seat arena pretty good in omaha...
i expect oakland to join the horizon league
and if creighton goes to the A-10, i expect UW-Milwaukee to move to the MVC
Oakland will join the Horizon League.....if UDM allows it. They have veto rights due to being so close. Otherwise I wouldn't be surprised to see, say, IUPUI instead.
oakland needs to get a football team and give that poor area something to do and be excited about. Have relatives in that area and there is NOTHING going on there.
They would be the only FCS team in Michigan.
i don't think the A-10 is done yet
add to the great conference is. Go Muskies!
