Valenti on the warpath re: Tressel

Submitted by RONick on

It is amazing what the work of real journalists will do to stir up the hornets.  All of a sudden Mike Valenti and Terry Foster are on the moral express ready to bring down the Buckeyes.  While I typically find Mike and Terry to be full of BS, I can't help but laugh and agree with this... I'm all in with Valenti on this!  Down with the Buckeyes!

Just no....

Valenti is awful and given his comments re: MSU and all their problems, is the last person the planet that should have anything to say about morals and ethics in sports.

I swear Foster watches sportcenter in the morning, reads mlive and does his radio show in the afternoons based on what he hears.  His occasional articles are 5-6 lines of stuff we already know and are written like a sixth grade english paper. He hasn't added anything informative in years.  I can't wait until there is another sports show on Fm to compete with those guys.

Just listen to 1130 WDFN.  They have 3 Mich guys (Matt Shephard, Mens Basketball announcer), Ryan Ermani (Alumnus) Ryan Terpstra (Fan, and someone I have seen post on this blog before).  Also, Sean Baligian, who is as fair and generally unbiased as any Sparty I've ever heard on the radio or talked to in real life, and at least when the talk sports, they know sports.

Terp is ok, I like his point of view, and I really like hearing him not only bring up board topics on the air, but even the occaisional Mgoblog shoutout. Sean Baligian (sp?) on the other hand, has unequivocally, the...

WDFN is definitely the better of the two (now that Drew Sharp is no longer on the air), although I think Karsch and Anderson are great You have a Michigan guy and very reasonable (and funny) Sparty.

Thats what happened in GR...About a year or 2 ago ESPN 96.1 started up and the Huge Show has been losing listeners ever since. Sean is kind of annoying though but Terp and Killer are entertaining.

As for Valenti and Foster...I dont know why people even listen. I will listen about twice a year and its always them complaining and bitching about something. Its like cliche sports talk; just complain and act like you know more than the professionals do.

What did Valenti say regarding MSU morals and ethics that you don't agree with? For the record, he wanted Winston to get kicked off the team the first time around, wanted everybody involved in the Rather Hall mess to also be kicked off, and wanted Chris Rucker to be dismissed after his drunk driving incident (also related to point #2). In that sense, Valenti is the anti-Dantonio.

here sparty... valenti has said on the AIR multiple times that he doesn't care what the MSU coaches do if it gets them to a rose bowl in his lifetime... the first time he said was when whole thing came up last year about archie collins getting a job with MSU after gholston got on campus... the only time he has gone against dantonio is when the player breaks the law and does time in jail... so if anything valenti is talking out both sides of his mouth which isn't something new to him...

Trying to restore some semblance of journalistic credibility and deflect attention from M plowing MSU up and down the court like a bunch of middle-schoolers.  I'm still not tuning in, but he has his part to play in this drama.

Down with tosu... jimmy did this shit at youngstown and he's allowed it to carry on at tosu. They have had 375 violations since jimmy took the job. Its just ridiculous... its never going to end if it doesn't end now.

And came in while he was screaming "Hey Jim, your players are snorting crack off a strippers butt.  but you can't tell anyone, its confidential.  Happy Easter, Go Bucks!".

I have to admit, he is annoying as hell with regards to Michigan/MSU, but for being an entertainer that talks about major topics in sports, the guy has some gems.

I will never say im with Valenti/Foster because that's like saying I want the terrorists to win.  But if the terrorists want to beat the crap out of other terrorists (OSU), who am I to stop them?

Here's what I say:

Grab some popcorn, find a comfy place to watch, and enjoy the show.

one of his comments was laugh out loud hilarious:

"Hey Jim, you have half your team doing crack off a hookers ass!"

"Oh ok Mike thanks Happy Easter Go Bucks jh!"

Please stop mentioning this particular radio personality.  Please do not encourage others to "tune in".  Its like Drew Sharp.  If you acknowledge his existence he has won.  I will admit that when WTKA goes national at 10, I have been known to switch over to Karsh, or Fithian later in the day on that station we shall not name. However, I feel dirty every time.  What is the schedule like on 1130?

WDFN's Weekday Lineup

I have always liked Beligian.  He has a very loose style and gets his point across very well.  He doesn't use shock and anger to get callers.  Killer is Killer.  He is a Lions insider (mouthpiece), but is horrible at predictions.  Terp seems ok, but is new to WDFN.  I never get a chance to listen to the others.
