Utah Game: Where Are You Staying?

Submitted by brewandbluesaturdays on

I am heading out to Utah tomorrow with my wife on our honeymoon and we will be staying at the St. Regis in Park City/Deer Valley and going to the game.

Trying to start a thread for fellow fans to meet-up. The only other thread I could find on this, was more or less where people were sitting. We are just hoping to bounce into some fellow Michigan fans and hoping to see some maize and blue roaming around our hotel.

Can't wait for the Harbaugh era to start, Go Blue! We will be in Section E32 Row - 51.

Will automatically make me "that guy"...but at least this thread is football related.

Anyway, if you want answers, this was discussed a day or two ago in another thread. Something like "Utah Game...who's going?" and in that thread people were sharing where they are staying.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of answers, but you may find some info in that thread if info is what you're looking for.

Cheer loud.

I'll be there, staying with a friend though.

Tailgating in the guardsman lot and tickets are in W8, N28, and behind the Michigan bench. If you have a game day ticket you can ride the Trax system for free.

Heading to Vegas for the weekend.

I am staying at the Marriott University Park and they will have a tailgate party at 3:00pm $20 a person all you can eat alcohol not included but drink specials. I spoke with the hotel manager yesterday and they said with all of the alcohol restrictions in Salt Lake they r one of the few to host a party like this walking distance to the stadium. I will be in MAIZE!! GO BLUE!

I have a feeling there won't be a ton of folks up at the St Regis in Deer Valley for the game though that hotel is insanely nice and that's a great humblebrag and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

We're at a Marriott Courtyard on points so aside from crashing there TH night, won't spend a lot of time at our hotel and may wander to that main Marriott or up to the stadium scene.

Here is a great run down of SLC. Thank you to Woodson4Life!

EATS

Valters - Great Italian fare coupled with amazing ambience and even a crazy Italian owner/master chef who wanders around and greets each guest. Downtown and easy access.

Sapa Sushi - Really cool environment with Pagodas shipped in from Indonesia. Good sushi, good prices for what you get especially if they have the outdoor patio open .

Lucky 13 - You just want a burger. The best is Lucky 13. Order "The Stinky" you won't be disappointed. It is a Bar, so remember to bring your idea and get ready for a massive burger.

The Red Iguana - This has been seen on Diners drive ins and dives and is a local favorite for Mexican. Expect a line and also really great Mole's. (Honestly have never been there.. which is weird??)

El Chihuahua - roughly 3 miles south of all the other locations I have mentioned.. but If you are a fan of great drinks and decent Mexican food.. but GREAT DRINKS (order the death star.. but only 1) this place is worth going to. Good prices, great staff and odds are good I will be there on Wednesday night.
(did I mention the drinks? hey..it is Utah... that is hard to find.)

The Mellow Mushroom - great pizza able to accommodate larger parties and has such an eclectic menu it is fun for everyone and also has creative drinks as well.

The Pie Pizzeria - The longtime established BEST pizza in Utah.

The Original Pancake House - solid breakfasts but stick to either a the omelettes, crepes, pancakes or if you want to REALY indulge order a "Dutch Baby" be sure to share the dutch baby or else you will have a "Mr. Creosote" Moment.

Spencers - Want a great steak while in Salt Lake.. well.. I would say you had best go to Spencers it is a great little steakhouse without it being too over the top. Flemings also gets honorable mention with everything a la carte.

Squatters Pub and Brewery - World renowned home of Squatters Brew pub, great place to relax have a pint and just enjoy everything that is beer with great food.

Moochies - great sandwiches (not M&B or Zingermans good) mostly known for their Meatball and Philly sandwiches, Moochies has become a local favorite.

Groves Deli - If you are on a low carb diet.. please for the love of god don't go to Groves. This sandwich take 2 (or 3) to eat.. but they are always worth going to when you wanna have a memorable sandwich

Nightclubs

Gracies - TV's, good food, multiple different options for atmosphere. Outdoor patio dining, inside bar area, great Moscow mules.

Bar X - Upscale, hipster but with amazing drinks and vibe good for about an hour or so then move to the next place..

The Bayou - Unique Louisiana themed environment and food. Poll tables and usually has a decent amount of people.

The Green Pig - More relaxed atmosphere, great servers and very "Local" when it comes to Utah. It is a spin off establishment to a legendary Utah Bar.

Park City Restaurants and activities

Grappa - VERY upscale Italian fare by Master Chef Bill White He also owns Chimayo and Wahso. All of which have their very own unique style and flair

The Glitertind at Stein Erikksen Lodge in Deer Valley - The best restaurant and resort in Utah. For Dinner or Brunch or even a spa treatment pure luxury.

Resorts West is a great place to book a beautiful home or lodge or cabin if you are coming out for the game and want to stay away from Salt Lake city. I use them myself for special "getaways"

Park City Ski Resorts is a great place to go on the weekend and relax and play. If you have your family coming and kids.. take a day and ride the Alpine slide and Alpine coaster. Alpine slide is also found at Snowbird ski resort as well.

There a re a ton of things to do while you are here.. concerts, mountain biking trails red butte garden strolls and so much more.. feel free to hit me up if there is something you are thinking you want to do while you are out here. Other locals feel free to chime in with some of your favorites..

I will add a couple to this list for people. wasatch brewpub is next door to mellow mushroom and I would recommend going there instead. mellow mushroom is cool but it's from Atlanta and you will likely start seeing them pop up everywhere. it is still delicious though, I would rather just go to Wasatch and try their beers. Also on the same block is the Annex by Epic Brewing which is good but overpriced in my opinion. Tons of craft beer in a good setting. If you're a beer snob, it's a great place. Very close by to all these places is Sugarhouse pub and Campfire Lounge which are two really chill bars. One thing about bar x...it's connected to beer bar so it's an ideal place if you want to try a bunch of beers but your wife/gf/wives/whatever want some fancy drink. Both have good atmospheres and outdoor patios. Also for your Friday afternoon hangover meal...Cafe Rio.

Are we Ready? Are we Ready to awaken the hoard (not Leroy)? Let's party at SLC and when we leave, the Utes will remember for a LONG time - September 3, 2015 the day when Meechigan rose from 7 years of slumbering nightmares to a new time - A time of Victorious Renewal!

Staying at the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel at Temple Square. For that long of a name I hope it's at least bed bug free... Gonna attempt to go to Gracies for the pregame party.

I'm not sure if there is precedent for doing this on the forum but my friends bought tickets together before I knew if I could take off work so I currently have plans to meet them in SLC and buy a single ticket for the game.  Is there anyone else who wants to buy a ticket together so we're at least sitting by fellow UM fans?

After what will be a huge win, where will most of the good guys be hanging? Saw the long post of the local sites earlier in the thread, but I'm at a loss on what makes the most sense. Maybe at 0:00 on the clock, someone will be inspired and yell "Michigan party at _____!"

Road tripping from Denver tomorrow. Fishing along the way. Got a cabin at the KOA campground 5 miles from the stadium for $60 a night. No tickets but will be happy to add some entertainment to any and all tailgating................not that kind of entertainment. This is going to be great!

Just made the decision today...

Courtyard Salt Lake City Downtown using points, though I'm refreshing the Marriott page throughout the day to see if the Marriott University Park pops back up.

I haven't purchased my game ticket yet - that's this afternoon's challenge.
