I had forgotten about this very important game. If we win tonight we should be in the World Cup.

Nice to have an easy second half (hopefully like tomorrow's game). Pulisic's assist on the second goal was great.

A qualifier going the way it should go. Better energy on the attack for sure. Now they just need to not let up for 45 more minutes.

Panama has given up. Just horrible effort all over the field.

GIVES A BLEEP. It's a message board. This was a massively, massively important event for a lot of us USA soccer fans.

Good win. Now take care of business against T+T. Go to Russia. Never think of this Hex again

Thank God Yedlin is healthy again. If we ever see the pairing of Zusi and DMB starting at outside back we are screwed.

all his promise into sturdy capacity. Saved our bacon several times tonight. For all the talk about Pulisic, Woods and Yedlin were huge contributors, too.

Christian Pulisic is the difference maker. He just turned 19 years old. Without him, the first goal isn't scored, the perfect pass for the second goal doesn't happen.

It isn't just his technique and ability to create in the final third that make him so good. There are very nuanced things that you can probably only pick up on playing against the best in Europe. His vision and movement off the ball is excellent.

have a fantastic player to raise the USMNT's ceiling. Having a player of his caliber that can create and distribute at such a high level isn't something that many squads have, and he's only going to keep getting better. It'll be especially lethal if Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josh Sargeant, Timothy Weah, and Johnathon Gonzalez keep developing. The United States has legit talent, and if they can get a quality, permanent coaching staff, they could be scary.

Maybe this is an identity for the Americans - using Woods and Pulisic to terrorize back lines until we develop better organization in our back third. Even then I don't see how they keep this up against a good opponent unless Arena modifies this approach to allow more support for Bradley at midfield. Like I said upthread, it was like watching Liverpool play against a bad team.

Moving to a 3-4-3 removes the extra bodies from the wings that open the pace for your 3 central attackers.
Putting Pulisic next to Bradley limits the counter attacking potential.
Having Nagbe/Arriola squeeze in opens up Yedlin/Villafana to get put in 2-1 scenarios.
To be honest moving Bradley up the pitch to keep control in the offensive zone, and allow the backline to pinch all the way up to and maybe past the halfway line will help. Using your backline and the offsides trap as another defender. But you have to have a good, organized, athletic backline. Maybe Cameron and Brooks and Yedlin and amazing LB who comes out of nowhere can get it done.
