USMNT: Great chance to make Semis
None of the teams we will/could face will be easy, but you gotta like the team's chances of making a deep run into the tournament. For comparison, lookat what England will be up against in its next two games.
USA!!!

Germany / England / Argentina / Mexico sounds like it should be the four in the Semifinals - that's a crazy bracket
Too bad England couldn't stop the Good 'Ol U.S. of A .or they'd avoid that blood bath of a bracket.
As I said below, the potential Netherlands/Brazil/Spain/Italy bracket probably tops even that one. The Dutch would almost be better off finishing second in their group if Spain ends up second in group H.
I have no words. That would be just brutal.
(Though certainly damn fun to watch)
I like our chances of Ghana but if you have watched Uruguay or South Korea you have to assume they are in a good spot to make a run as well. South Korea has the best counter attack of any team in the tournament, and Forlan IMO is almost as deadly as Messi on the ball. Uruguay played great defense against France and solidly beat RSA and Mexico (a team that is also moving on).
Thinking though, South Korea can give up goals as easily as they can produce them
Playing the first African team to make it through to the knockout round IN AFRICA. Strikes me we'll be facing a hostile crowd on Saturday. I wouldn't call it easy but I guess I'd sooner this than Germany, Brazil or Argentina.
jinx
One step at a time. There is no easy path.
Go USA!
But, I would much rather be sitting where we are and not in Engand's spot.
Ghana have yet to score from the run of play in the tournament. Without Essien they are possibly the best draw we could have gotten for the Round of 16. Throw in a little revenge for 2006 factor and I really think we have a shot to make a run.
You Ghana want it!
You may be right. I'm not sure I see it, but right now I'd say the US seems to have the easiest bracket. As an example, the US would have either South Korea or Uruguay in the quarterfinals. Uruguay is no pushover, so maybe they think they have the easiest road to the final four. But as an example, you could see the Dutch against Brazil in one quarterfinal (not to mention a potential Brazil/Spain game in the round of 16), and Germany/Argentina or England/Argentina in another (with England/Germany slugging it out with each other and then the winner having to potentially face Argentina, although I still expect Maradona to go on a coke fueled insanity binge at any moment.)
Am I the only person that thinks that some variation of this should be the US Soccer logo? It would be ten times better than the lame shield we have now.
Looks like Nike is using this campaign as we speak.
I'm with you. I think it's pretty badass.
And while I recognize that the three stars are supposed to represent our flag, it also makes us look like we're falsely claiming three WC titles.
Please, just no easy goals. Defend well, and Howard will ensure a clean sheet.
