The chart has us at the BWW Bowl. If we win out it'll almost certainly be the Gator Bowl. Northwestern being a private institution will hurt them in the bowl selection.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:23 PM ^
Do all the bowls have to select a team within 1 win of the team with best overall record left or is that just for the capital one bowl??
November 11th, 2012 at 10:29 PM ^
Capital One and Outback do. The rest don't have that rule Also, the B1G championship game loser cant go below the Outback, so if Wisconsin loses out, they still go to the Outback

November 11th, 2012 at 10:14 PM ^
Also, I wouldn't put too much money down on them beating Northwestern.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:08 PM ^
If Nebraska loses and we somehow make it to the Rose Bowl would they have us play ND again?
November 12th, 2012 at 8:35 AM ^
November 11th, 2012 at 10:08 PM ^
Consider with me if you will:
1) UM Win out (yes I know improbable win vs OSU)
2) Nebraska win out including CCG - probable
3) K State wins out (beat Texas) - probable
4) Oregon wins out (beat Stanford, Oregon State and UCLA) - probable
5) ND wins out (including beating USC) - possible
6) Florida beats FSU - probable
7) SC Beats Clemson - sure why not
8) Rutgers beats Louisville - probably according to ESPN bowl predictors - but not necessary as there will only be one Big East team in BCS this year
9) SEC only 2 BCS slots (LSU/Alabama/Georgia)
10) Big 12 only 2 BCS slots (KSU/Oklahoma)
Stanford may have a shot to stay above us but they will have 3 losses as well, and we are likely to jump them IF we win vs OSU.
10 slots including:
KSU & Oregon - NC
Nebraska & ND - Rose
Rutgers and ACC (FSU or Clemson) - Orange
Alabama vs Oklahoma - Fiesta
LSU or Georgia vs ??? - Sugar
I would much rather play against a TOP 3 SEC team in a BCS bowl as opposed to a Top 4 SEC team in the Cap One bowl...
November 11th, 2012 at 10:18 PM ^
Sugar wont be LSU, Championship game will be Georgia (clinched) vs Bama (most likely). Winner goes to the Sugar (Bama or Georgia), loser will either go to Fiesta (At-large), Cap 1, or Outback.
Michigan may have to play Bama again if they lose the SEC Championship.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:35 PM ^
That would never happen, because there would be no demand for that rematch. Doesn't make fiscal sense.

Oregon is most likely going to the BCS MNCG. That would mean they would be the Pac-12 champion. That would usually mean the next Pac-12 team in line would take the champion's place. However, oregon plays stanford Saturday and then the Civil War with oregon state. If they beat them both, that would most likely drop them blow the Top-14. Ineligible for a BCS bowl.
Then it would just be an at-large team. Fiesta could take ND, but most likely they'd take a Big 12 team (oklahoma) to stick with it's traditional roots like the Rose usually does.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:31 PM ^
Got it. I thought the top 14 rule only applied to at-large bids, not conference tie-ins. Thanks for the education.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:33 PM ^
It does, but if Oregon goes to the NCG, the Pac-12 tie in becomes an at-large. Rose would probably take a P12 team if eligible, but none will be.
November 12th, 2012 at 12:52 AM ^
Considering the Big 12 just inked a deal with the Sugar Bowl to send the Big 12 champion there to play the SEC champ, the Fiesta might not be thrilled with the Big 12 right now.

Beat Iowa
Beat Ohio
Get well Denard.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:21 PM ^
I'd love to see Bama in a non-BCS bowl this year, after them getting to the NCG without even winning their division last year.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:25 PM ^
Bama in a non-BCS bowl would mean most likely Cap 1. Don't think they'd pass on a 2-loss Bama team over 2-loss TAMU (assume 1-loss Florida gets the SEC's 2nd at-large).
Want a rematch with Bama?
November 11th, 2012 at 10:28 PM ^
I highly doubt the capital one bowl would go for that. Bowls hate rematches, especially ones they can easily avoid. Texas A&M is going to be very popular when the bowls start picking. They are a tv draw with Johnny football and their fans will travel.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:30 PM ^
Hope you're right, because i would LOVE to see Wisconsin and Bielema get SMASHED by Bama.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:42 PM ^
I'd rather play Florida than either Bama or A&M. I just like the idea of Bama not being in a BCS bowl. I hate their program and their fans.

Offtopic: I know we are in the middle of the season, but are people cool if we start back up the OT: WALKING DEAD threads again? I liked the insight/comments and wish to start it back up. If it is too OT for the calendar year, I'll just wait till mid-January.

BTNRickPizzo Told by source that winner of #Northwestern #Spartans is virtual lock 4 Gator Bowl as long as they win finale.MSU vs #Gophers,NU vs #Illini 11/11/12 10:32 PM |
edit: this was supposed to be a reply, oh well.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:35 PM ^
Wow, I bet the Pizza Bowl folks are ecstatic about the possibility of Northern Illinois vs. Utah State or Kent State vs. San Jose State.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:38 PM ^
November 11th, 2012 at 10:38 PM ^
I would take A&M. Consider this, IF we win, that shalacking we took from Bama wouldn't look so bad. Probably more like early season jitters. Plus, I don't want to look aprehensive to play anyone. I know Bo sure wouldn't.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:40 PM ^
Praying for. BCS bid but a big win over the SEC would be very gratifying as well.
November 11th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
So if Nebraska plays ND in the Rose Bowl who gets all the lucky calls?
November 11th, 2012 at 10:49 PM ^
November 11th, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
I would salivate at the chance to play ND again. It would be a good game, but I highly doubt they could beat us again.
November 11th, 2012 at 11:07 PM ^
Yah because NDs defense didn't get any better since playing you. Oh wait.
PS: Also the Rose would avoid the rematch which means that ND would hit the Fiesta bowl.
November 11th, 2012 at 11:09 PM ^
Doesn't the B1G Champ have an auto bid to the Rose Bowl??
November 11th, 2012 at 11:15 PM ^
um.. yes.
November 12th, 2012 at 12:39 AM ^
November 11th, 2012 at 11:09 PM ^
I want nothing to do with Johnny Football.
November 11th, 2012 at 11:43 PM ^
Bo damn near left to go there. If he wins he will never go anywere.
November 12th, 2012 at 12:54 AM ^
I've heard talk the Cotton Bowl would love to get a Texas-Texas A&M matchup.
November 12th, 2012 at 9:25 AM ^
That would be awesome. I despise Texas and would love to see them get taken behind the woodshed by their "little brother", TAMU. You know that Aggie fans would kill for a chance to humiliate Texas in a big bowl game.
November 12th, 2012 at 3:41 AM ^
That'll be an awesome Christmas present!!
November 12th, 2012 at 6:10 AM ^
The thing that's probably going to upset all of this is a loss for at least one of the three undefeateds. Oregon has three ranked teams left, ND has USC, and KState goes to Texas. Likely that at least one loses a game.
If all three win out and KState goes to the title game as #1, the Fiesta gets the first choice of the at-large teams. Why does everyone assume they take OU over an undefeated ND team? I get the geography but ND would really seem to be a no-brainer.
November 12th, 2012 at 8:22 AM ^
Much like the Rose, they would feel obligated to take the Big12.
November 12th, 2012 at 7:30 AM ^
November 12th, 2012 at 8:52 AM ^
I fully expect Wisconsin to beat Nebraska in the B1G championship game. Wisconsin had a 17 point lead against Nebraska in Lincoln when they were still "finding themselves" offensively. I'll take a Wisconsin team that is steamrolling people now in a rematch on a neutral field.
Wisconsin wins 34-24.
As a consequence of that hypothetical outcome, I think Nebraska goes to the Cap One Bowl and UM ends up in the Outback Bowl.
November 12th, 2012 at 9:05 AM ^
Regular season isn't over yet, nothing is for certain.
November 12th, 2012 at 9:28 AM ^
Ummmm....you don't REALLY expect Nebraska to lose to Minnesota or Iowa, do you? Even if Nebraska slips up against Iowa, I'll be surprised if UM is able to beat OSU in Columbus.
This just wasn't UM's year.
