USC WR and 2012 Biletnikoff Award winner Marqise Lee injured his shoulder yesterday at practice. USC already lost WRs George Farmer and Steven Mitchell to torn ACLs earlier this year. Their WR depth chart is extremely limited with the scholarship sanctions, and Lee is probably the best player on the team. Going to be an interesting year for USC and Kiffin.
USC WR Marqise Lee injured shoulder
the team student managers for the injury, said they should've blocked for him.
The way they described how it happened sounded like a separated shoulder. They said there was no big collision and that he just kind of landed on it and needed to be carted off. The thing about separated shoulders is that at the right angle of impact it doesn't require much force to do the job.
Or as the article says it could be a bad bruise. I have seen it go both ways.
I want to beat the piss out of that school in the Rose Bowl
Personally, I'd prefer to watching OSU having to play them in the Rose Bowl.. Because we are playing Oregon in the National Title game
FYI - Stanford is winning PAC this year...not Oregon.
I'll buy that.
I think Michigan will play Texas A&M in the NC instead of Alabama if Manziel is eligible to play.
Hard to imagine that happening.
SC will not be in the Rose Bowl any time soon.
I'm sorry to be that guy but they do play UCLA every year so they are bound to play in the Rose Bowl very soon... I get myself for making this post but I just had too
Good one, Canadian.
I hear ya. When we played them in the Rose Bowl under Bo, they always seemed to get the benefit of a major blown call by the officials. Then they sucked for 12 years so we couldn't play them in any bowl. Then Pete Carrol arrived and got the best players money could buy, which made the 04 and 07 Rose Bowls a nightmare.
I hate those bastards, except for when they play Notre Dame. That's the only time I root for them.
We should have had B1G officials... doh... nevermind...
Depth is killer and with the scholarship reductions now is when USC will hurt the most. I know everyone hates kiffin but can u really blame him for the disappointing seasons. I think they win 7 games but If any PAC-12 school wanted the best shot to beat USC this is it
isn't why people hate Kiffin.
That might be up for debate, but what's not up for debate is the fact that Lane Kiffin is a douchebag.
That I agree
Yeah. Usc is gone be even worse this year. It's gonna be hilarious. Where's my popcorn??
So far, this is just a practice boo boo. Not until we find out it is serious does it mean anything. And I certainly wish Lee the best and pray for a speedy return.
but I thought it was newsworthy considering how vital he is to USC and USC's WR depth issues.
My dislike for SC and Kiffin aside..........I hope Lee recovers quickly as he is a fun WR to watch on the field.
Lee is one of the most exciting players in the country, and it's a shame that he's hurt. I don't think USC is going to be that good this year, but Lee was a reason to watch them. His performance against Arizona last year was unbelievable and one of the best single game performances I've seen.
UCLA - it's your big chance again!
Losing Marquise Lee for any extended period would potentially stunt USC's passing attack since Lee accounts for almost half of their receiving yards, and with Robert Woods now gone to the NFL, there is not much left in the way of significant contributors (save for Agholor and maybe Grimble), at least from last year - Lee and Woods were almost 70% of all reception yards and receiving TDs.
According to the Sporting News, Lee supposedly told his team that he would be "fine", although other reports said that he had his arm in a sling. Couldn't find much else on it.
Considering what I saw out of freshman Nelson Agholor last year, USC will be just fine at WR.
until they cut Kiffin loose. I still can't believe they hired that clown
That pattern worked out well for Oklahoma (and I'm sure other teams as well). Get some clown who can't really coach but recruits like the dickens (John Blake--likely some cheating involved), follow him up with a HC who assembles a a top-notch coaching staff (Bob Stoops with Mike Leach as OC), profit.
the country and probably the most explosive.
I could only watch USC for his plays and Lane's misery.
...but even without Lee (and with Kiffin)...they are probably still going to win 10/11 games. The only team that is going to smack them around is Stanford...they do not play Oregon this year...NotrenDame is 50/50, and UCLA is at home (UCLA hasn't won in the Coliseum in 14 years). The rest of their schedule is pretty week...with the better teams coming to the Coliseum. Good news for SC haters...if they win 10/11 games that may be sufficient to keep Kiffin around...unless he gets in trouble for some other shady shit...which is always a possibility with that D-bag.
Also, going to USC BBQ next week with team. Any questions for McQuay or Isaac? I always talk with former Michigan recruits (Rojo and Perry) about what they liked about SC over UM.
Losing edit privs is a huge loss...
USC loses to OSU (ntheOSU), Arizona State, ND, Stanford, UCLA and one of the following (Cal, Arizona or either Utah school.) New QBs aren't good QBs - especially when Kessler beats out Browne and Wittek.
Agholor is great but without Lee he would be on an island.
Rojo and Perry's loss...they would have made a difference at Michigan.
U must not really follow PAC 12 football. Simply for the sake of having Kiffen fired...I hope u are correct...but it is not happening. USC will likely lose 2 out of 3 away games to some combo of Arizona State, Notre Dame and Oregon State and they will lose to Stanford at home. USC has owned Cal of late...even at Cal...and their team is not going to be any good this year. UCLA has some talent with Hundley, Shaq Evans and Barr...but they haven't beaten USC twice in a row since '97 & '98 and they have not won at the Coliseum in 14 years. Even my biggest homer UCLA friends don't "expect" to win at the Coliseum this year.
USC is thin on depth chart...but loaded with talent. Their 3 qbs are all either high 4 or 5 star and have plenty of weapons to make them look better than they are (they have 2 of the best tight ends in the country) and they are loaded with talent in the backfield. 10-3 season is probable, but could see 9-4 or 11-2.
Also...Lee's condition has been updated...he is day to day with only a bone bruise...and he will be back to practice soon.
