I never understood how a team let's this happen to them. Can't they see where the damn ball went? How could it magically get caught by someone on the other side of the field.

It hardly ever works. Everything has to go right for a team to pull off that kind of punt return. When it does work it’s bc of a bad punt. UCLA had called “punt left”. The punt itself ended up going to the right, which is perfect for USC. The gunners for UCLA don’t get coached to look at the ball, they’re coached to track the return man in mostly all situations. The usc return man carried out an epic fake, and the only player on the field for UCLA who knew the punt went to the right was the punter.

Watched a replay of Wisconsin's punt return TD and I can't figure out why there wasn't a call for a hold or block in the back on Ambry Thomas as he is approaching the ball on the turf. The Wisconsin gunner running with him grabs his arm and pulls him back which causes their feet to tangle which in turn caused Thomas to fall. Maybe that isn't a penalty, for some reason, but I can not understand why it hasn't been mentioned anywhere.

You know the plays that burned us vs PSU? Why arent we at least trying to catch them out of position. Almost Every play is a finesse pass to the edge or bang your head up the gut. Take a real of what has beat us and coach the crap out of it. If it fails it just replaces one of 30-2 yard runs or a sack.

Yeah, because running a slant into zone coverage designed to beat slants is the same as running slants into press man coverage that leaves a run first safety against a slot reciever.

Because a particular play might work against Don Brown's defense does not mean it will work against anyone else's defense.

The dummy receiver is signalling for a fair catch.  That nullifies any return by anyone unless the ball hit the ground.

Watch videos of other teams doing the same play. Nobody else calls for fair catch
