USC Sanctions

Per Bruce Feldman:

USC has been hit with a two-year post-season ban in addition to the loss of scholarships, among other penalties from the NCAA.

I can't help but feel bad for kids like Matt Barkley.  While I despise USC unlike any other program in the land, Barkley seems like a humble kid with his head on straight and a ton of talent to boot.  And now he is screwed because of the transgressions of others, and Lane Kiffin is now his head coach.  I bet his head is swimming right about now.

Hmmm... maybe that's why they hired Lane Kiffin. They knew they'd get these sanctions and figured they could just fire him when they don't go bowling for two straight seasons.

Brilliant!

ESPN doesn't know what the fuck they are talking about.  They have reported three times now that a decision would be coming down when it wasn't.  They are literally just throwing darts at the wall at this point.

This is the latest from the people who actually know what is going on at USC:

http://insidesocal.com/usc/archives/2010/06/grant-statement.html

We'll all know soon enough, but ESPN seriously needs to just shut up until the official announcement comes at this point from either SC or the NCAA.

It is spelled HOKEAMANIA.  Our coach is an ass-kicking American citizen, not one of the Beatles, for Christ's sake!

On Bloomberg this morning there is an AP story supporting the 2-year ban claim.  That being said, the story simply mentions "two media outlets" and doesn't name them.

So does it count as "three sources" if the third source is describing the first two sources???  LOL -- Gotta love the MSM.

If the NCAA wants to twist the knife, they'll do what they did with Alabama and allow a window of opportunity for players to transfer without having to sit out a year.  Open the floodgates.

Sean Parker went to Washington, not USC.

Plus, Dillon Baxter was also a bomb-ass safety prospect, as well as being one of the best RB (if not the best) prospects in the 2010 class.  Whichever side of the ball he plays on, he will be absolutely fantastic.

probably 5 a year for 4 years or something to that affect. 1 year would essentially get rid of an entire class. Regardless, thats 20 roster spots now filled with walk-ons rather than schollie players.

the postseason ban only matters if it doesn't start until the 2011 season.  2010 recruits can't do anything about it now, so it doesn't really hurt USC.  and 2011 recruits would only have to live with missing a bowl for one year, which isn't such a big deal, because so few of them would be playing in it anyway.  if 2011 recruits knew they would miss two bowls, meaning even if they redshirted, they still couldn't play, that might have a real effect on recruiting.
