No, it's sad the guys we already have aren't panning out (which creates the yearning for transer/other players).

Okay, that was a premature thing to say and not really fair.  However, this Fall will tell a lot; hopefully last season was a fluke and was just timed too well with too much youth.

I think the guys he's referring to not panning out are the young offensive linemen, not basketball players. Don't think M has suffered a rash of o-linemen jumping to the pros early.

Though, if I just missed it, that would explain a lot about the line's depth.

I'd normally ask why do we want a one-year stop gap when we could use that scholarship on a high school kid, but since all of our high school recruits only stay two years before turning pro anyway, I figure, what's the difference?

A little more background from NBCSports regarding Byron Wesley:

Wesley reached double figures in 26 of the 30 games he played in this season, scoring a season-high 31 in a win over Northern Arizona on November 15. That was one of two games in which Wesley scored 31 points this past season, the second of which being a win at Washington State on March 6. Wesley shot 46.7% from the field, 33.8% from three and 71.8% from the foul line as a junior.

As someone who has watched an unhealthy amount of USC basketball this year, Wesley is not someone Michigan would/should be interested in.

Also, if anything he's leaving because he probably won't get as much PT next year with their incoming recruiting class and the guys coming off transfer redshirts.  Doubt he wants to come back-up Caris LeVert, and that's only if he's able to beat out our talented newcomers.

...Wesley was the only bright spot on a terrible, terrible team. He singlehandedly helped USC win the few games they did. If you are opposed to an experienced 6'5, 210lb guard that averaged nearly 18 points and 7 rebounds a game in the PAC 12, then he is completely someone that Michigan shouldn't be interested in.

Wesley was going to get benched in favor of Reinhardt next year, that is why he is leaving.  John Beilein is not interested in a shooting guard who can't shoot and Wesley made as many 3-point shots as Spike Albrecht this year, good for 6th on the Michigan team.  He also had a lousy assist/turnover ratio.  Wesley is also almost certainly not transferring to get even less playing time than he would at SC (LeVert is a much better all-around player than Reinhardt and guys like Irvin and Chatman would not make it easy for Wesley to ever see the floor here).

SC won 2 conference games.  Wesley had a good game in one of those wins, a triumph over the equally horrendous Washington State Cougars.  The guy is a good rebounder for a two guard (which is more of a quirk than a super valuable skill), but that doesn't mean he's good enough to get any PT here at Michigan.

I'm sorry you had to watch so much shitty basketball as well.  Next year and beyond should be a lot better.
