How pissed would you be if you were Texas and 2005 had swung by even four points? I can't even imagine that, that'd be even worse than the time Tressel stole a BCSCG appearance from us in 2006 for the same offense.

And yet if Michigan had any clue how to stop a running quarterback (2004) or hadn't punted from the 34 only to go to a prevent defense when more points or one more stop would have won the game (2005) or capitalized on a 3-0 turnover advantage (2006) we wouldn't be sitting her making cheap excuses.
Just imagine how 2004 Auburn feels. They went 12-0 and got snubbed in the poils.

Right now, the confirmed tat parlor guys are only six; until the NCAA says the other names are legit, it's irresponsible to make claims like that unless you don't value your credibility as a commenter at all.
If the speculation is going to run that rampant, I'd be tempted to put the burden of proof on you that every player on Michigan's 2006 team had not ever committed an eligibility-jeopardizing violation.
Can you prove either of these things or point to a governing body that concluded anything you've alleged? Of course not. So at the end of the day you're just a bitter fanatic on that one, aren't you?
Bitter fanatic? Yea, definitely sounds like me. There are multiple former players who's allegations date back to at least 2006. Couple that with SI saying it's a pattern stretching back years and it's becoming clear that Tressel's entire term as OSU HC has been tainted with players who should never have seen the field.
I know how much you hate Lloyd Carr, but you honestly think that he would have allowed something as major as cash, drugs and tattoos for equipment out of the school's locker? Or signed warm-up suits of current players?
When the NCAA implicates those players or even suggests that something was done to wipe out 2006, I will buy your argument. Until then, it is sour grapes.
I don't hate Lloyd Carr nealy as much as the people who deify him as something he's not. And this shit is almost always discovered through flukes. We wouldn't know a thing about this whole ordeal had the FBI not raided the tat parlor for drug trafficking and found the OSU memorablia. We know that Tressel knew about it after Cicero? Before Cicero? We have no idea. Just like Lloyd didn't have an idea of everything his players did 24/7.

Besides the last three years, I think there is an argument to be made that Ohio's edge could have been because of playing players who were ineligible. It would be nice to erase some of those losses... Not to say we shouldn't have beat them on the field regardless, but I hate how cheating has tainted this rivalry, and think they should be held accountable to the utmost degree.

Are Clarett's escapades enough to be declared inelligble for 2002 (or did that already happen)? Along with any other potentially inelligble players could this mean a 2002 title strip? My brain likes to jump on any and all USC/OSU comparisons of this nature. I would appreaciate anybody with real information/understanding of the similarities to let me know.

I believe, though I could be wrong, that the Orange Bowl itself would also have to make the decision to vacate that win in order for TB to officially get the record back. I would expect that, as it stands now, if you were to look through the official Orange Bowl record book, Leinart would still be on top. However, that might change. . . .
You know, in some ways this is completely pointless, but in other ways I'm really happy this is happening to USC. I mean the Fab 5's seasons got removed, but we all know what happened and that has been Michigan's basketball image for a LONG time and will be for a LONG time, but it at least sends the message that just because you get away with something at the time does not make it right
Dude gave back his Heisman and his association with the school. The problem is, he's still down in New Orleans enjoying a nice big juicy steak with some hottie on his Rolex - adorned arm, collecting a big fat NFL paycheck and a pension in the bank. Meanwhile, the coach and the AD who were in charge during that period are all gone, with virtually nothing impeding their ability to succeed at whatever they do. Now kids like Matt Barkley, Nick Perry, and the rest of the kids who were about 10 or 11 at the time pay the consequences.
I don't know why I'm on my high horse about the hypocrisy of the NCAA all of the sudden....it's not like I give a flip about the f'n Trojans. But as a dad of a kid who may or may not play at the next level, I'd be a little bitter seeing Reggie Bush on TV, all smiles and care free.
I hate that people can just waltz away without any NCAA jurisdiction over them. I don't think that it's right for the NCAA to bar the NFL from hiring someone like Pete Carroll, but one would love to see some justice served to the Tressels (after ditching Y-State) and Caliparis of the world. Some violations should, however, hit the school (incidentally, this should theoretically should work as an incentive for parents and prospects to vet for themselves that a school isn't likely to rack up some violations) and some should follow the coaches. With liberty and justice for all.
