(No they don't use a true 4-4-2 but it isn't a true 4-3-3 either...but these are your starters)

Edit-Being listed as a diamond w Bradley attacking & Beckerman defensive/holding

Also notable exclusions for Ghana starters are Boateng and Essian

If Jozy comes back watch out. Definitely feel those injuries hurt the team mentally. As you said trainers now have to earn the money and get the team ready for the next game. Let's go great job.

Germany will not have clinched the group by the time the US plays them. Cross that off the list of hopes.

A better plan would be to beat Portugal; if Germany also wins both teams will have qualified and that last game will just be for place (and avoiding Argentina).

...are always a possibility.

In their last eleven meaningful games (the qualifiers, plus today) Germany's scored at least two in every game. They've scored at least three in ten of the eleven.

Best to get the job done now, than hope for goal difference.  And it might well be possible for Portugal to put a dent in that goal difference against a Ghana that's already on their way home, if things went the way you describe.

Otherwise if someone just flat sucks...make up and injury and get him off. Or maybe if you have a situation like Saurez, keep him off...play a game or two without him, then fake an injury and bring him back.

It's one of the reasons I don't like giving spots to players who are only fit to come on late in the match. You might think those last couple of field players are never going to see the pitch anyway, so what does it matter? And then suddenly you get some injuries and suspensions and you find yourself either playing people completely out of position or starting someone who can barely give you 30 minutes of effort.

Especially this tournament. Fatigue's going to be a real issue in this heat and humidity and you have to rotate the minutes around some, at least if you're planning to make a long run of it in the knockout stages.
