the only time this weekend I won't be rooting for the "blue" team
November 11th, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
competitive, France would just give up and surrender.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
Is the game being shown anywhere else?
Any idea about who will be playing? Demsey?
November 11th, 2011 at 3:09 PM ^

espn.com says espn 2 and 3...there are probably streams at firstrow and myp2p and the like
November 11th, 2011 at 3:12 PM ^
Per Ives:
USMNT starters vs. France: Howard, Cherundolo, Goodson, Bocanegra, Chandler, Williams, Beckerman, Edu, Shea, Dempsey, Altidore
Pretty solid group.
EDIT: and announced by Ian Darke, so you know something awesome will happen.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:18 PM ^
Darke is definitely entertaining.
Somewhat related question: Who is the Irish (?) guy that commentates a lot of the La Liga games on Fox Soccer and GolTV?
November 11th, 2011 at 3:21 PM ^
Ray Hudson, and he is awesome. His accent is Geordie, BTW (from Newcastle).
November 11th, 2011 at 3:23 PM ^
“The ball’s trapped in between Raúl’s legs. Keita doesn’t matter what ball he kicks, he’s gonna get something.”
November 11th, 2011 at 3:26 PM ^
Soccer broadcasters guys are so much more straightforward than their American football counterparts. I love hearing Hudson talk about bad plays - he's relentless. His commentary made the last Barcelona match against Hospitale watchable (I'm a Messi fan (yeah, I know) and was bummed that he wasn't playing).
November 11th, 2011 at 3:30 PM ^
Hudson and Gus Johnson are two guys that I'd tune in to even if I had no interest in the game. Not too many people I'd put on that list.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
Messi with such tenacity and vision… he is a short legged bull covered in eyes
November 11th, 2011 at 3:12 PM ^
for a team that routinely sucks, France sure has a lot of talented players.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:18 PM ^
They have/had a bunch of headcases on their team.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:31 PM ^
They also recently had a total nut for a coach (Raymond Domenech) who used astrology to guide his personnel decisions. The French team pretty much tuned him out for the last 2-3 years of his tenure before it finally came to a head in South Africa last summer. Now that they are managed by Laurent Blanc, they are starting to get it turned around.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
I remeber them refusing to practice because the coach benched Anelka. There was lots of crazy going on during the World Cup.
November 11th, 2011 at 7:54 PM ^
in the World Cup coverage. They had some bizarre headlines that summer.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:19 PM ^
Benzema has been playing out of this world, and Abidal is as steady in the back as anyone.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:22 PM ^
Damn it, good edit on the earlier identical response.
I'm hoping the US can show something - they've really struggled since JK has taken over (not that I think it was a bad decision, just an adjustment period).
I'm also ready to see Adu again at some point.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:23 PM ^
C'mon. Its a sunny Friday afternoon here, I'm stuck at work, and my eyes are starting to cross from having to stare at the computer screen all week.

PERIOD
November 11th, 2011 at 3:22 PM ^
I'm really excited about these German born Americans that are getting called up for us.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:23 PM ^
Turkey losing by 3 goals at home? Later Guus.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:27 PM ^
Yikes. Is that a Euro qualifier match?
November 11th, 2011 at 3:32 PM ^
Yeah. Turkey's at home and has had most of the possession too. Still can't figure out how they're losing this badly.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:30 PM ^
Yup...and I'm enjoying every minute of it.
I really hope Croatia will finally find some success under Bilic for the first time since he was on the team.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:35 PM ^
You must REALLY be enjoying it.
Turkey's another messively under-achieving European country. No reason they should struggle to qualify for Euros and World Cups when much, much smaller Balkan countries (aka Greece) regularly qualify.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:32 PM ^
sorry, been a rough day.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
A goal from Corluka warrants a triple post.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
These French uniforms are so French.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:52 PM ^
They're not saying "Booo", they're saying "Bleu"!
Not a bad half. Been wanting to complain about Beckerman, but he hasn't done anything to warrant it.
Chandler seems to be having issues connecting with anyone, and I haven't seen much of Shea.
November 11th, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
I would say that complaining that "Beckerman hasn't done anything" would be pretty valid. I don't understand Beckerman/Edu in the midfield for anything other than just seeing what they can offer. Bradley's better than both of them, whether as a holding mid or as the CAM. And the previous excuse for not playing him no longer applies, he's actually playing regularly for his Serie A team.
Ireland is in pretty good shape in their tie, up an away goal and up a man, they really should be able to put another goal or two in the net and get a stranglehold on that one heading back to Dublin.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:07 PM ^
I confused about the Bradley thing as well because he is good box to box player. i'm guessing he gets the start in the next series of friendlies, after getting him acclimated to his club.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:11 PM ^
Can someone fill me in on this? What team did Bradley move to?
November 11th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
Chievo Verona. He wasn't getting playing time/not seeing eye to eye with his old coach. He was clubless during one span of friendlies so he didn't get called into camp.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:06 PM ^
Some things I do miss about France
November 11th, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
You know all is wrong in the world when our favorite football team is wearing Adidas, and our national soccer team is wearing Nike...

November 11th, 2011 at 4:18 PM ^
A world class block by Tim Howard. He is so good.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:18 PM ^
that was impresive by TH.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
Remy & Martin getting subbed in. That is the most French thing ever.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:30 PM ^
to Ukraine (!), 2:3.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
Yay. Fabian Johnson getting his first time with us.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:34 PM ^
Damnit, the balls being played over our back line has been giving us issues today.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
Any one notice TH’s 40 yard goal kick hit the French player in the nose? Even funnier because he has a French nose.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:39 PM ^
Remy, @71 minute
France is up, 1-0
November 11th, 2011 at 4:39 PM ^
We finally get a call.
November 11th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
