I had no idea this was a thing.  What kind of players are on the US team?  I assume college players who weren't good enough to make it in the NFL or various other pro leagues?

I didn't either (at least until I saw a headline today), which is why I posted it here.  According to Wikipedia (where truth is found), players on the USA National Team are amateurs who must have graduated from college.  I did not see any official eligibility rules on the usafootball.com website, however.

At the time (2007), the Japanese national team was the two-time defending champ.  The U.S. had never fielded a team before that year.

By the way, according to the intertubes, there were a couple of Michigan players on that 2007 Championship squad:  Brian Thompson and Jeremy VanAlstyne.  Who knew?

Clarence was not kidding about France's defense - we gained 454 yards on 57 plays, or 7.96 yards per play. Due to the -26 yards rushing, France garnered all of 75 yards of total positive yards on 50 plays for 1.5 yards per play. In there is -1.1 yards per rushing attempt. France only managed 7 first downs to our 24 as well.
